The Race To Be THE BATMAN May Now Be Down To Robert Pattinson And DARK PHOENIX Star Nicholas Hoult

While Robert Pattinson was recently named as the frontrunner to play Bruce Wayne in The Batman, a new report reveals that he may actually be competing with Nicholas Hoult to suit up as the Caped Crusader.

Matt Reeves' The Batman will introduce a new Dark Knight to the DC Extended Universe, but it may not be Robert Pattinson who dons the cape and cowl. According to The Wrap's Umberto Gonzalez, The Twilight star and Dark Phoenix's Nicholas Hoult are currently doing screen tests, which points to Warner Bros. and Reeves having not yet made a decision.

Both actors would bring something different to the role, and this would certainly be an upgrade for Hoult after playing a werewolf version of Beast in the X-Men franchise for the past few years.

In the past, actors have missed out on superhero roles because they didn't look right in the costume, so Reeves' decision could come down to who looks better suited up as Batman. It's also possible that there are actors in the mix we don't know about, but as of right now, it seems Pattinson and Hoult are the frontrunners to become the new Caped Crusader.

It's previously been reported that The Batman will feature as many as six villains, but if production isn't starting until early next year, we likely won't find out who is playing The Penguin and Catwoman for quite some time (those two have been named as being among the six according to reliable sources).

Who do you think would be the best batman?

I like them both. But I think that Pattinson would add some freshness to the character, given his absence on mainstream, blockbuster films. Also, that jawline screams batsuit, the guy should look awesome all suited up.

@jarcastanon - the jawline is what won me over. And he had the right amount of scruff to bring that cowl to life.

@jarcastanon -

I can also see a little bit of Affleck in Robert Patterson both in the hair line and jaw line. Since I'm expecting The Batman to be a
BvS prequel, it would be fascinating seeing Patterson playing a
more stealthy measured Batman that we know will evolve into a
more direct bruiser type of hero 20 years later.

@L0RDbuckethead - i really hope Reeves makes this a mystery film where you actually see batman go thru the progression of solving a case in stead of just punching people.

@knocturnalzen10 - He's said a few times that it will be Noir/Detective themed, and I trust him to follow through on that (barring more studio interference).

@L0RDbuckethead - fingers-crossed with that ... it would be perfect if it's in Arkham , since he said he was going to use several rogues .

@knocturnalzen10 - I'd love to see some rogues in an Arkham scene (or two):

Calendar Man
Victor Zsasz
Mad Hatter
Great White Shark
Professor Pyg
Man-Bat (briefly glimpsed in NvS: UC)

So many options!

@L0RDbuckethead - do you think Reeves is going with characters that are as “fantastic” as Great White Shark or Man-Bat? Or do you think he’ll keep it more grounded?
L0RDbuckethead
L0RDbuckethead - 5/30/2019, 3:52 PM
@WruceBayne - My gut says he'll keep them grounded (if they even make appearances at all), but who knows?

I just wanna see some villains we haven't seen in live-action yet (not counting Gotham).

@L0RDbuckethead - Gotham should’ve been the place where we seen a Man-Bat

both will have to hit the gym for a bit unless they want bruce to have a slim build but i just watched GOODTIME and Pattinson should get it , if they're going off acting chops ..... that dude was pretty scummy and very believable in the role

@knocturnalzen10 - since Reeves is going with a younger iteration, I think Batman should have that CrossFit/Parkour type of body and Pattinson is just about already there sooooo...

I blame Kinberg and Singer for the serum shit too. Too lazy to have him be beast 24/7
