THE BATMAN Star Robert Pattinson Teases His Less "Straight-Up Heroic" Take On The Dark Knight

The first trailer for The Batman gave us a good indication that this latest incarnation of the Dark Knight won't be holding back when it comes to dealing with criminals, and everything we've seen from Matt Reeves' upcoming reboot since has suggested that we're in for a fairly brutal take (well, as brutal as a PG-13 rating allows) on the iconic DC Comics vigilante.

Robert Pattinson has previously implied that his Batman will head down a pretty dark route in the movie, and the actor has now teased a less heroic interpretation of the character than fans might be used to.

“I needed to know about as much of the history of the character as possible to see what hadn’t really been done," he revealed during an interview with The Daily Record. "People see Batman as this straight-up heroic character, but in our story it really questions what the nature of a hero is and it gives a lot of different angles to it.”

Ben Affleck's Batman was a pretty violent fella, to be fair, but many assumed Warner Bros. would go with a slightly less intense version of the character in order to differentiate Reeves' film from the "SnyderVerse" era movies. Evidently not!

We're not expecting Pattinson's Caped Crusader to fully break bad, of course, but it sounds like he might go to some extreme places in his efforts to bring The Riddler to justice.
