Ahead of today's trailer launch, a new report has confirmed that Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse composer Daniel Pemberton has been tapped to write the score for Cathy Yan's Birds of Prey movie!

Film Music Reporter has learned that 2x Golden Globe-nominated composer Daniel Pemberton has been tapped to score Cathy Yan's upcoming Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn).

Pemberton's past credits include, but are not limited to, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Steve Jobs, Gold, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, Molly's Game, All the Money in the World, Ocean's Eight, Yesterday and Motherless Brooklyn.

The film stars Academy Award-nominee Margot Robbie (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Gemini Man) as Helena Bertinelli/Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell (Friday Night Lights) as Black Canary, Ella Jay Basco (Veep) as Cassandra Cain, Academy Award-nominee Rosie Perez (Pineapple Express) as Renee Montoya, Chris Messina (The Mindy Project) as Victor Zsasz and Golden Globe-winner Ewan McGregor (Obi-Wan Kenobi) as Roman Sionis/Black Mask.

Since the events of Suicide Squad, Batman has disappeared, leaving Gotham City unprotected from crime, and Harley Quinn has left the Joker. When Cassandra Cain, a young girl, comes across a diamond belonging to crime lord Black Mask, Harley joins forces with Black Canary, Huntress, and Renee Montoya to help protect her.

Spider-Verse had some really great and memorable music, so this is a great get. I've heard so much praise about Joker's score by Hildur Guðnadóttir, so if nothing else we might get two memorable scores for DC films in a row (after how forgettable Aquaman/Shazam/Justice League's music was)

@MadKingCipher - Agree to disagree, I felt most of it felt very generic. That was an issue with some of Wonder Woman's tracks too, but her main theme was so memorable and it worked so well in the context of Jenkins' film that it gets a pass from me. Man of Steel, as much as I might have disliked it, had a great score though. BvS' music just felt like angry noise to me outside of WW's theme.
Also just remembered Trent Reznor's doing the score for HBO's Watchmen, so that shit's gonna sound gooood 👀

Literally the only aspect of this movie that seems cool to me.

So yeah, cool, i really like this composer.
