Warner Bros. Goes All In On Harley Quinn As BIRDS OF PREY Takes Over The Studio's Logo

Following the release of that action-packed trailer yesterday, Warner Bros. is going all in on Harley Quinn as the character has taken over the studio's logo on social media. Check it out after the jump...

Harley Quinn was the breakout character in 2016's Suicide Squad so it's no real surprise that she will be the focal point of Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn). Now, Warner Bros, is celebrating the release of that first trailer by having Margot Robbie's HQ take over their logo on social media!

It's a unique approach to promoting the DC Comics adaptation, and one that's going to grab the attention of fans in a big way. Of course, those who aren't on board with Harley getting the spotlight probably won't be overly happy with this decision.

With any luck, characters like Black Canary and Huntress will still get a decent amount of screentime, as they could easily move into other franchises or even their own spinoffs. As for Quinn, she's obviously going to be returning to Task Force X as part of James Gunn's The Suicide Squad next year, so that's where her particular story looks set to continue.

What do you guys make of this new logo for Warner Bros.?

Vanity projects for actors that want the spotlight never ends well.

RDJ had an ego but he also knew when to step back and let others had the spotlight. You have to be a team player.

This movie looks like what would happen if Feige took the F4 made them R-rated FOR NO REASON an put Deadpool as their leader.

How does that sound?

“ Vanity projects for actors that want the spotlight never ends well.”

apparently this movie had pretty good test screenings.

“if Feige took the F4 made them R-rated FOR NO REASON an put Deadpool as their leader.”

Okay that movie sounds hilarious and I’d watch it opening night

@regularmovieguy - So did Godzilla. And BvS. And a lot of other films.

I have read the leaks. They have taken huge liberties and changed major traits of the characters. Cassandra Cain especially is almost a new character.

@Jeight8 - Abd putting DP as a leader in a r-rated F4 is a disaster and a disgrace for the 4.

“ Abd putting DP as a leader in a r-rated F4 is a disaster and a disgrace for the 4.”

After the other 3 Fantastic 4 movies maybe that’s not such a bad idea

@regularmovieguy - So the alternative after F4 is to shoehorn Deadppol in a F4 and make it r-rated? Those are the only two options?

Fine a good writer and director, tell him to read Hickman's F4 5 times, take the concept of Reed trying to fix big universal problems, nail the personalities of the F4 and the family dynamics as best as you can and make them explorers.

That's it. Not that hard.

@Jeight8 - RDJ basically ruined the Iron Man sequels, he insisted Justin Theroux write IM2 instead of bringing back the screenwriters for IM1, then he insisted Shane Black be brought on for IM3.
Jeight8
Jeight8 - 10/2/2019, 8:48 AM
@soberchimera - only Iron Man 2 was ruined then. And Iron Man didn't have writers, it was made almost on the spot by favreau and Downey.

soberchimera - 10/2/2019, 3:10 PM
@Jeight8 - Mark Fergus, Hawk Ostby, Art Marcum, Matt Holloway. Fergus and Ostby wrote one screenplay, Marcum and Holloway wrote another, Feige and Perlmutter combined the best parts from each.

@Jeight8 - "Vanity projects for actors that want the spotlight never end well." Agreed 100%.

They would've done better to just call the movie 'The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn' ....just lose the Birds of Prey title altogether and make the subtitle the actual title. Remove any and all pretense that this is a Birds of Prey project. It's a Harley Quinn movie that happens to have two characters who have been, at different, inconsistent points, associated with Birds of Prey. Not saying it would make the quality of the movie any better, but we'd at least not have that glaring issue anymore.

Guardians of the Galaxy (and the Amazing Space Adventure of One Tony Stark) - promotion is 90% Stark-centric, you don't even learn the names of the other characters. Oh, and there's also no Star-Lord.

Not even making any predictions about BoP's quality as its own thing, but it is 100% the character cult behaviour people have been accusing Marvel Studios of for years, only they never took it close to this level.

Forreal who says this stuff though? The character cult behavior stuff

@Kyos -

I've realized that a small part of my inability to engage with DC's more recent stuff is partially due by having spent so much time on this site between 2013 and 2016 and reading endless (inaccurate) comments claiming Marvel were doing the things that DC are now doing to the maximum, overcompensating nth degree.

This movie is going to be a hit. Valentine's day release (Deadpool and Black Panther release window) and the
first major release (even if R-rated) since Star Wars, and first CBM of the year, will push this near MoS
domestic box office.

Final domestic take 240 to 250 million.

This better be one hell of a fun [frick]in movie. Because the aesthetics so far to me scream nothing of the source material.
