It doesn't appear as if we're getting a new trailer for Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) this weekend but, hey, that Wonder Woman 1984 first look is still coming! In the meantime, Warner Bros. has released two new posters for the Harley Quinn-led DC Comics adaptation putting the spotlight on the impressive female cast.

Harley is, of course, front and centre as are the rest of the heroes - anti-heroes? - who will make up this iteration of the Birds of Prey. There's no sign of Black Mask but he got the spotlight on yesterday's character posters which can also be seen in the gallery below along with other previously released marketing materials for the highly anticipated movie.

Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn) leads the ensemble cast which includes Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Huntress), Jurnee Smollett-Bell (Black Canary), Rosie Perez (Renee Montoya), and Ella Jay Basco (Cassandra Cain). Ewan McGregor, meanwhile, is going to be playing the aforementioned Black Mask and it's rumoured that he'll don a comic accurate mask.

This looks nothing like the comics.

@PantherKing -

True but the thing we all have to remember or realize is that these movies are made for the general non-comic buying audience. They're the majority. It's not made for the handful of comic geeks that are looking for accurate portrayals. Comic buyers/readers are the minority.

The only thing comic fans can hope is that it's still a good story with a great version of the comic character. Like most of the Marvel movies tend to be.

@PantherKing - This looks nothing like the comics.

It looks just like her solo book. A complete mess.

@Humperdink - There are reasons that comics sell though, and reasons that comics get canceled. If you take a long running comic book and strip away everything that made it good in the first place, of course it doesn't work.

I'll be shocked if this doesn't bomb.

@SethBullock - Gird yourself.

Somehow this franchise seems to have found a niche.

How is it the Arrowverse is giving us more comic accurate characters than this??? (I know I know havent seen the movie yet but come on).

Regardless........I'll be there opening weekend.

@MrCamw1 - I'm curious... if you think it looks that bad, why be there opening weekend? Are you somehow that insanely committed to BOP no matter how it's presented? I'm a lifelong Star Wars fan but I'm not paying to see The Rise of Skywalker because of how Disney's mishandled the sequel trilogy.

@GreedoSarducci - I like going to theatres to watch movies, no matter how good or bad it looks.

@MrCamw1 - I can appreciate that. Once upon a time when I was much younger I used to do the same thing.

@Battabing - 2019 Rosie Perez playing a generic TV procedural cop is easily the least interesting adaptation of Renee they could have done.

@Spock0Clock - Totally agree. And Perez's casting was one I was really into at first.

Idk, could be good. I like that first poster.

Would have been dope if they had planned better and had BoP proper with Batgirl. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Nice posters that could be better if the rest of the characters were sharing the same spotlight.

It makes sense that Harley is a lead in her own animated show, not in this.

Lmao Montoya and Cassandra's poses

Spock0Clock
Spock0Clock - 12/6/2019, 12:03 PM
@BlackBeltJones - I think Robbie must have told the marketing department "make everyone else look terrible so I look better" because none of those poses look right except hers.

It's definitely not the best marketing I've seen. Looks pretty mediocre. I hope the movie is better than the marketing has been.

Still cant get over gall of them calling this BOP and they shoving Harley at the forefront like they owe her money

I've heard the marketing strategy is to focus on Harley, whereas the film really is a BOP film. But, we already knew that.
