BLOODSHOT: Vin Diesel Regenerates Into His Comic-Accurate Form On This New IMAX Poster

Sony Pictures has released a new IMAX poster for the upcoming Bloodshot movie, which was developed as the first of several Valiant Comics adaptations.

The first couple of teasers withheld the main characters "final form," but the most recent trailer gave us a glimpse of him in action, and here we finally get a proper look at Vin Diesel's Ray Garrison sporting the red eyes and blue-tinged skin of his comic book counterpart.

The R-rated project was set-up as the first film in a five-picture deal between Beverly Hills/Beijing-based DMG and Valiant Entertainment, with Harbinger expected to follow at some point if Bloodshot is a success. Neal Moritz will produce, while Blur Studios' Dave Wilson is on board as director.

Joining Diesel in the lead role will be Eiza Gonzalez (Baby Driver, Alita: Battle Angel), Michael Sheen (Underworld, Tron: Legacy), Sam Heughan (Outlander, The Spy Who Dumped Me), and Guy Pearce (The Proposition, Iron Man 3).

After he and his wife are murdered, Marine Ray Garrison (Vin Diesel) is resurrected by a secret team of scientists. Enhanced with nanotechnology, he becomes a superhuman, biotech killing machine – Bloodshot. As Ray first trains with fellow super-soldiers, he cannot recall anything from his former life. But when his memories flood back and he remembers the man that killed both him and his wife, he breaks out of the facility hellbent on revenge, only to discover that there’s more to the conspiracy than he originally thought.

After the most recent trailer, I'm willing to give this a chance. I enjoyed the comic for the most part.

@Reeds2Much - "comic accurate" is a pretty liberal term on this site

@Reeds2Much - Well it's MORE comic-accurate. Unfortunately, they've yet to perfect the direct translation of comic book pages on to celluloid technique.

This is such a weird movie. Like I was extremely excited to see a Valiant superhero finally get the big screen treatment and was hoping that this success would mean a Valiant universe of movies. But then between filming and now the rights to the other Valiant superheroes jumped to Paramount. Sony seems to have lost interest. They are full aboard to the Spider-verse of movies. So I guess I still want it to do well but it’s weird. I want X-O Manowar. I want Ninjak. I want Unity. Come on Paramount you need some franchises.

The guy I the right of Vin Diesel in the pic of the article looks like a cross between James Franco and Chris Pratt.

I really enjoyed the comic and it could be a cool film in the right hands but it seems Vin has decided to make it look as pedestrian and boring as possible.

This should've been a tv show, to be real.

I wanted some crazy sci-fi, martial arts R rated action based on Rai but I get this watered down version of Bloodshot instead. Not cool.

I can't be bothered with this one. Looks too much like a generic '90s Action flick.

@A2ron - That's because it was a generic 90's comic book.

My issue with anything from that time period is that it came from the great walk-outs at Marvel (and to a lessor extent DC). All the writers left the comics they were on and just recreated those characters elsewhere.

Blood was Wolverine
Spawn was Venom
Youngbludd was a bowel movement after someone used an issue of X-Force to wrap a burrito
Solar was Dr. Manhattan
Deathblow was Punisher
Gen 13 was Gen X

But it also ends up with these characters stuck in the microcosm of when they were produced and what the major label version was doing at that exact moment.

This movie looks incredible. From the cast, story, acting, stunts and visual effects; all sublime!

Seems like a worthy contender for best picture, next year. I have a feeling Vin will finally get best actor with this one.

Watch your back A24, Sony's coming out strong!

Unless it's a F&F or Riddick movie, Vin just doesn't have the pulling power to want me to watch a movie just because he's in it. This looks like it could be 'rainy Sunday afternoon b-movie trash but fun' though.
