Kick-Ass is back! But not exactly the way you remember him. Today, Mark Millar and artist John Romita Jr. announced a new Kick-Ass ongoing series via The Hollywood Reporter but this time, it's not Dave Lizewski donning the familiar green and yellow threads.  In a move that will immediately remind comic readers of Peter Parker and Miles Morales, Millar is introducing a new Kick-Ass that's female and African-American.  No further details were revealed about the series other than the fact that the story takes place in a new city and that Dave Lizewski won't appear.

The new series, along with an ongoing Hit-Girl title are expected to go on sale in January.

Said Millar on the new series:

"Comics is not short of white males aged around 30; that demographic seems pretty well catered for in popular culture.  I don’t think many blonde white guys around 30 feel under-represented when they pick up comic or watch a movie. Being older or younger or female or African-American just seems more interesting to me as a writer because this character is quite unique and opens up story possibilities that hasn’t been tried in almost eighty years of superhero fiction. This woman has a completely different take on Kick-Ass."
