COMICS: A New Man Of Steel? First Look At Geoff Johns And JRJr's SUPERMAN #36

It looks like Metropolis might have a new Man of Steel in Geoff Johns (Justice League) and John Romita Jr.'s (Amazing Spider-Man) Superman #36...for 24 hours at least! In this first look at the issue, we see Ulysses make an offer to the city that its citizens likely can't refuse.

It's really strange seeing John Romita Jr. drawing DC. His Superman looks way too Superboy, or maybe it's just this horrible new 52 turtleneck costume.

@Gusto

Well comic books and their characters are fantasy and fiction so I though I would file The Detroit Lions under that since it would only be a fantasy they would make it to the SuperBowl ever!!!!!

It's always fun to see 90% of the comments on comics be "Ugh, what the hell is going on here?!" and yet the biggest purist douche bags or "true fans" are on CBM. Yeah guys, you tell em how to adapt stuff! Even though you don't read it, know whats happening and are completely out of touch with all of it.

This run has been the one of the best Superman arcs in a long time, definitely the best of The New 52.

@DamianWayne

"John Romita Jr. should change his name, its such a slap in the face to his father. This guy is a [frick]ing hack, how can someone who can't even draw be a huge artist? must be nice to have the right last name, and not need talent."

Drawing is exactly what he's doing there. Please enlighten everyone how he cannot draw. Because I see things here most comics these days lack: great perspective, actual backgrounds, great sense of pacing and layout, great storytelling, care into making each background character look and feel as important as the main characters, variety in panels, changing camera angles, changing figure sizes, etc.

Just because you don't like the style, or maybe he's not Jim Lee enough, doesn't mean he can't draw. Not being able to draw and not liking one's style are two very different things. Learn the difference. Because all the basics of drawing and a clear level of draftsmanship is on display in these pages.
