As we reported yesterday, the uncensored edition of Brian Azzarello and Lee Bermejo's Batman: Damned #1 gave fans of DC's Caped Crusader a first-ever glimpse of the mighty Bat-penis, and if you managed to get your hands on it - the comic, that is - then you may have made a very wise investment.

We'd heard that DC was planning to censor the images for digital copies of the issue, but now IGN reports that they're also going to alter the panels in future printings to remove the offending Batawang.

A source close to the project told IGN that DC chose to alter the art because it wasn't additive to the story. The first print run currently on sale in shops still features the unaltered art, but all future printings of Batman: Damned will reflect the altered artwork, the source also said.

This obviously makes any first editions of Batman: Damned #1 a lot more valuable, so see if you can nab one before they sell out.

Controversy aside, Batman: Damned does sound pretty cool. It focuses on The Dark Knight and John Constantine teaming up in an attempt to solve the murder of... The Joker?

At one point, Bruce Wayne returns to the Batcave and disrobes as he continues his investigation via the Bat-computer, and that's when we get our first glimpse of the Bat-bulge.

Though some retailers in certain locations have reportedly expressed concern about the uncensored copies, many others are reporting that they're flying off the shelves and have ordered more. So, snapping one of these up could turn out to be a nice investment.

I will get 2 issues of each. That includes the variant. I dig it. I just called my shop and was told the book is going for $20 on eBay and they put the last 2 copies in my box. Sweet! I'll wait and sell them after I send them off to CGC.

@ElJefe - I was kinda shocked when I went for my box. It wasn't in there. I thought I was missed and they sold out or didn't get enough issues. I walked over to the "New issues" and they had one variant and 3 "A" covers on a table. I had no idea they were graphic books when I added them to my pull. I picked up the Jim Lee and Bermeho cover and cashed out. While doing so, a slip of paper fell out of the stack and the cashier grabbed cover "A" for me behind the counter. Obviously it wasn't going to fit in my box. As I said, I bought both. I love when comic go nuts like this. I pretty much buy most of the DC and Marvel runs each week. If Damned comics keep it up, I'll just put them away with the other 100k comics my kids will get later on. Now I just need Brock to name the new Symbiote in Venom:First Host! I have the new ish, but haven't read it yet. Comics are awesome!

@Lostcause - You’re a true comic lover at heart! I pick up physical copies when I get the urge but closed my pull list some time ago and went digital. I did collect the first issues and variants for Venom and got First Host too - all excellent! And some Spider-Geddon stuff. Comics are definitely fun.
