The flash as a character is good, his costume is cool, but because the only thing he can do is run fast has never made me interested in reading any flash comics,I like him in the justice league but stand alone I don't like him

I liked The Flash in the JLU cartoon, and he works fine as part of the JL in the comics, but solo? MEH.

I like that the Flash's actual powers include complete control over his atoms.Im surprised more writers haven't explored this

And John's run was great on that book but Wally was infinitely more interesting than Barry Allen....

Flash does more than run fast. Have any of you actually read the book? Or any Flash book? His entire body can move super-fast. He vibrate his molecules so fast he goes through a wall (which can also make whatever he goes through explode).

Also how is the Flash generic? He was going fast before any other comic character that wasn't Supes.

The flash is awesome and anyone who reads his comics and sees all the cool ways he uses his powers and the speed force will realise why the character is an icon. Screw hating ass marvel fan boys and there bs.

What would be awesome is if He'l dies right there and that alien takes his body and clones him, and we get Bizzarro52 and since its a copy of a copy it would explain the reverse talking oaf.

he's generic to me because that stands out about him.

power wise. you're fast? thats cool but so are a million other guys. next.

yea those are my favorite too, those are the ones I grew up on and that first got me into comics, Mark Waid is the bomb, trying to get the dead heat and terminal velocity graphic novels now.

I understand where Supergirl is coming from, but seriously she's a total bitch in the New 52, I actually c her as the 'Skyler White' of the Superman Family; she needs to get her ass handed to her asap!

Nothing to do with his powers (which I think are pretty cool) I just don't really ever find his stories that interesting. Obviously I haven't read everything, and there might be some great arcs out there, but I have given Flash several tries over the years, from different writers to different characters, right up to the New 52 series which I dropped after 3 issues out of sheer boredom! Just not my type of comic.

Barry Allen is boring. Its Wally West that made The Flash cool and interesting.

@ fastestmanalive

you know it,dead heat & terminal velocity are classic's.

waid also wrote the flash born to run, flash the wild west's as well as impulse which was pretty cool as well.

By almost every law of suspense there is, Supergirl should absolutely curbstomp Flash right about now. The comic should essentially be twelve pages of her making him her bitch, followed by his desperate door-opening scheme and subsequent KO just in time for Wondy and Supes to look appalled in the doorway.

But of course the ominously circling bitchstorm that is fan approval will keep DC from doing anything like that.

Go on, prove me wrong, DC. I'd love to see it.

I agree that the Flash is the bomb but Wally West all the way!!!

Not only a character with an interesting personality but one that matches perfectly with the Flash persona. Impulsive, high energy, a bit selfish, somewhat irresponsible but ultimately a good heart and well meaning. Plus Wally is very unique in comics in general, where he is the only hero I can think of that you can actually see grow in almost real time.

Whereas most comic book characters stay generally the same in personality, Wally you could go all the way back to the 60's and see a young kid to the 80's when he joined the new Teen Titans when he was a teenager and a confused young adult, to when he first took on the mantle of the Flash in the late 80's and started off extremely inexperienced and immature, watching him find love in Linda Park and ultimately getting married and coming into his own legend as a hero, all the way through the 90's and 2000's until his tragic disappearance.

Now on the negative with Barry I'm gonna keep it short, I also want to point out that while my first exposure to the Flash was Wally and I did grow up with him I have read most of Barry's comics from the late 60's all way to 1985 when he died in the crisis, so this is not a lack of knowing the character, but Barry is just plain boring, way too much of a straight man with zero personality that is not fun to read and definitely does not fit the persona of the fastest man alive.

So yea, WALLY WEST FTW!!!!!!

@Netman0007

Speaking of Waid and his awesome JLA run, don't forget the famous tower of Babel and one of my personal favorites divided we fall, awesome reads.
Fastestmanalive
Fastestmanalive - 1/21/2013, 7:50 PM
Wally is much more interesting then Barry, sorry I know Barry came before but hes just a boring square with no personality.

Wally's personality matches perfectly with the power of super speed, he's a bit irresponsible and immature, is a little impulsive and has a sense of humor. pretty much how he was in the first 150 issue of his won series. Or basically a slightly water downed version of the Flash from the JL cartoon series.

Impulse is also a good match for his powers but to the extreme.

But Barry? come on!! I dont like boring characters in general but especially when it comes to the Flash, guy who likes to take it slow and is responsible and thinks five times before he does anything and dosent like to take risks, yep, perfect match for someone with super speed, (sarcasm btw)

But I dont see DC ditching Barry anytime soon, so I think the Nightwing route is the best one.

Give Wally a different costume, like the one he got in rebirth, and it'll be more fast paced adventure then the book with Barry, which is more science focused on the psychics that he manipulates.
