This is one to file in the "rumor" column and comes to us via Bleeding Cool. I have to say upfront to those of you unfamiliar with Bleeding Cool, that they're pretty rock solid when it comes to inside information about the comics industry. Thus, I see this information fit to share with you all.

You may have heard the rumblings lately of something big affecting Nightwing in the upcoming DC event Forever Evil. No, they aren't killing him. (Though they almost did back in Infinite Crisis.) Two Robins dying in one year would be too much for Batman to handle.

It looks like Nightwing will be brutalized in an encounter with the Crime Syndicate and forced to publicly reveal his identity under coercion from Superwoman's lasso. For those unfamiliar, Superwoman is Wonder Woman's evil counterpart in the Crime Syndicate. Now, if this revealing does happen, it's said to be permanent. There will be no Brand New Day here.

It is worth mentioning that Dick Grayson was also forced to go public in the Batman Beyond comics in recent memory, but in a much different way.

Forever Evil #1 is in stores September 4.

I'm interested in seeing how this plays out (if it even happens).

He might have to be the "Batman" pictured with Luthor and company, after he is exposed.

@WAYNE - I'm a little hazy on the specifics, but since the reboot, I don't think Dick was ever officially adopted by Bruce. Supposedly, he was even in an orphanage, for a time, before Bruce began training him...

@ABH1979 - Yeah, he was adopted by Bruce when he was 16 in the New 52. I believe we see a bit of it in Nightwing #0. :)

@NightWingNut - Thanks, I couldn't remember the specifics.

So since he was adopted, it does officially tie him to Bruce. So, if/when Nightwing is "outed" it will be interesting to see how this affects Bruce.
