Ok, so a DC Cinematic Universe is bound to happen soon, with Man of Steel and Batman/Superman starting it. Everyone says "Oh, the New 52 should be the basis" etc. I say no.
DC has a big chance at something here. A first in a superhero film or a film in general: a reason in the film as to why the character appearance changed. That's right. Sooner or later Henry Cavil will be too old to fly, and Ben Affleck will pass on the torch. Just as Michael Keeton changed from Batman Returns into Val Kilmer in Batman Forever, they will change. And rather than completely reboot, DC has a big opportunity here.
FLASHPOINT.
IMO, the DCCU should be split in to 3 chapters leading to each Justice League film. And each chapter should have a specific theme. Chapter 1 starts with MAN OF STEEL, an origin story. So make the first theme rising. Chapter 2 should show that after they saved the world, the Justice League is beloved by all. Peaking. And Chapter 3 is falling. Here is where you completely screw over the universe. Kill Superman at the end of JL 2, or in his own film. Paralyze Batman, take away Hal Jordan's ring. Just make Chapter 3 the Fall of heroes. Then comes Flashpoint as JL 3. This establishes another universe at the end of the film. The New 52 universe, with younger actors, and also having a film reason as to why it happened.
