BATMAN: WHITE KNIGHT Miniseries Depicts Batman As The Villain And Joker As Gotham's Protector

Aside from DC Rebirth's Dark Nights: Metal, DC Comics has another miniseries (written by Punk Rock Jesus' Sean Gordon Murphy) on the way that will remix the classic Batman and Joker relationship.

Out this October, Batman: White Knight sees the Joker become a hero after his insanity is cured. And the target of his heroic crusade is none other than Batman himself.  But instead of physical or psychological tactics, a mentally sober "Jack" (along with an equally reformed Harley Quinn) will use legal means to illustrate to the people of Gotham that the biggest menace in the city is actually the man who claims to be its #1 protector.

The miniseries will imagine Gotham as a modern American city that deals with similar pressing issues such as the Black Lives Movement and class wage gap.

In describing the series to Wired Magazine, writer-illustrator Gordon Murphy states, "The line Batman rides between 'noble vigilante' and 'overzealous oppressor' will always be shifting as our own society changes.  We know the Joker is a genius, we know he's relentless, and we know he can play the crowd, so why not make him a politician?  Frank Miller modeled him after David Bowie. Chris Nolan showed him as a controlled sociopath. I see the Joker as Don Draper."

Batman: White Knight hits comic book shops on October 4.  Check out  the cover and a preview page below.

Joker and Harley are looking rather normal on the cover of Batman: White Knight #1.

It seems the Joker's efforts will see Batman locked away...possibly in Arkham Asylum.

@RasAlGhul - if JL is great they're really back in the game not moneywise they much better than marvel. I think DC has 3 billion with 4 movies marvel got 3 billion after 5-6 movies. Its like sports you can be shit but after 1-2 good games you back in the series. the mainstream audience only remembers the last 1-2 movies

MAKE GOTHAM GREAT AGAIN!!!!

WE WILL BUILD A WALL TO SEPARATE THE CRIMINALS OF GOTHAM FROM THE CITIZENS AND CALL IT ARKHAM CITY. ARKHAM KEEPS SENDING US CRIMINALS AND RAPISTS. WE WILL DEPORT THEM BACK TO ARKHAM CITY. AND WE WILL MAKE BRUCE WAYNE PAY FOR IT!!!

ANY REPORTS THAT LEX LUTHOR INTERFERED WITH THE ELECTION IS FAKE NEWS!!!

I HEARD POORLY RATED VICKI VALE SPEAKS BADLY OF ME (DONT WATCH ANYMORE). THEN HOW COME LOW IQ CRAZY VICKI CAME TO THE ART MUSEUM 3 NIGHTS IN A ROW AROUND GOTHAM'S 200th BIRTHDAY, AND INSISTED ON JOINING ME. SHE WAS BLEEDING BADLY FROM A FACELIFT. I SAID NO!!

"Just out: The Batman knew far in advance about election meddling by Lex Luthor. Did nothing about it. WHY?"

Damn this story writes itself lol

I'm dubious after reading that awful War of Riddles and Jokes book. The Bat books have been misfiring ever since Snyder jumped off.
But I do like the art here.

@rabid - I don't think King/artist of the week has been bad, I just think Snyder and Capullo spoiled us rotten with great story after great story
