Former Captain America, Bucky Barnes, has a hit list of the world's most corrupt villains and this December, he'll assemble the deadliest assassins, spies, and black ops agents in the Marvel Universe to take them down one by one in the pages of a new Thunderbolts comic book series.

Announced back in July, Thunderbolts is written by Collin Jackson and Jackson Lanzing and illustrated by artist Geraldo Borges. Kelly and Jackson plan to continue their explosive transformation of Bucky into the Revolution and, armed with a century's worth of dark secrets, he has one objective: justice...like lightning! He’s going after the establishment, the people no one else is willing or able to take down, and he’ll do whatever it takes to win.

Along the way, Bucky and the ever-mysterious Contessa Valentina Allegra De Fontaine will lead a new team of Thunderbolts dedicated to eliminating the greatest threats on Earth.

Now, you can get a first look at the high-stakes missions in store courtesy of acclaimed artist Josemaria Casanovas' connecting variant covers! Adorning Thunderbolts #1-4, this show-stopping piece spotlights Bucky and Contessa's recruits including Black Widow, Sharon Carter/Destroyer, White Widow, Red Guardian, U.S. Agent, and Shang-Chi.

As you can see, they're in action and looking to deliver justice like lightning to a who's who of Marvel's most legendary villains: Kingpin, American Kaiju, and even Doctor Doom - all with the ultimate goal of ending the Red Skull for good. No one is safe from the new Thunderbolts!

"Alongside our old friend Geraldo Borges, we're taking this opportunity to tell a very different kind of team book," Kelly and Lanzing recently said. "This is a whole new era for the Thunderbolts and it starts with a four-part espionage epic, an ever-shifting cast and a single overarching goal: to tear down a century of Nazi evil with justice like lightning."

While this will only be a four-issue limited series, we're sure you'll notice the similarities between this roster and the one set to take centre stage in Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts movie. That's no coincidence and this comic will likely serve as an introduction to the characters for many casual fans.

You can check out Josemaria Casanova's connecting piece below and be sure to pick up the first part of it when Thunderbolts #1 hits stands in December.

Was Frank Castle busy in another book or something? This is right up his alley.

@RitoRevolto - because "they" hate everything the punisher stands for. whatever punisher we'll get in DD born again will be an even more neutered veriosn of the real Frank Castle.

@harryba11zack - no, they hate that the socially conservative are turning the Punisher Skull into some kind of warped political ideology. Frank isn't Right Wing or Left Wing, he's a vigilante who targets criminals and the occasional super villain. Even Jon Bernthal and Gerry Conway has spoken out against it

@KaptainKhaos - son, last I checked, it wasn't the a conservative that turned the punisher into a stupid ninja.

@harryba11zack - Well slim, Frank was also an Undead Monster and Herald of Galactus. He became brainwashed and became leader of The Hand, he's a comic book character, he's not supposed to be a political ideology

@KaptainKhaos - my offspring, comicbooks have been political propaganda from the beginning. look up supermans'history or hell what do u think OG captain amereica was about?

@harryba11zack - my progenitor, yes they have, that's not the current issue, I have yet to see any socially conservative groups use the Superman or Captain America symbols as their political personality.

@KaptainKhaos - ma seed, it was called world war 2.

@harryba11zack - my kith and kin, yeah it was, Captain America was punching Hitler as well as being used with Superman in some mildly offensive war propaganda against the Japanese, but that was then. Back to the original point, it's not that folks hate the character of the Punisher, they hate that he's being misused as a political ideology

This is gonna from the same thing most Punisher books where he’s not fighting the regular mob suffer from and that’s lack of following through on the premise. We know these guys aren’t gonna kill Fisk or the Skull or Doom, so the premise is a non starter. Frankly, I’d be happy if they took out Tombstone or Hammerhead or something. Even the Owl. Instead, the most that’ll happen is they kill The Squid or Gibbon or some cannon fodder like that.
