AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #75 Cover Sees Peter Parker Swing Into Action With Ben Reilly, But Are His Days Numbered?

Marvel Comics has released covers for three upcoming issues of Amazing Spider-Man showing Peter Parker and Ben Reilly teaming up. Unfortunately, it doesn't sound like the former will be sticking around!

Marvel Comics has shared its October covers for all three issues of Amazing Spider-Man, and things really aren't looking good for Peter Parker. While he's placed front and centre alongside the returning Ben Reilly on the cover of issue #75, he's in bad shape by the time the next issue rolls around and, from there, it sounds like Ben is about to become the Marvel Universe's main Spidey.

As noted in a press release accompanying the cover art shared below, "this Spider team-up won’t last long and Peter Parker may be taking his final web-swing. What villain did the unthinkable and took Peter down? And is Ben Reilly, last seen operating as the Scarlet Spider, really fit to take over?"

It doesn't sound like Kindred will be the one to deliver this fatal blow at the end of Nick Spencer's run because starting with issue #75, we're getting a new creative team in writers Zeb Wells, Kelly Thompson, Saladin Ahmed, Cody Ziglar, and Patrick Gleason.

However, big things are happening in the pages of Amazing Spider-Man right now; Doctor Strange has confronted Mephisto over the state of Peter Parker's soul, while there are now three Harry Osborns. One is a corpse, the other is the "One More Day" version who was resurrected as part of "Brand New Day," while the third is Kindred.

We're guessing the latter is the original Harry's soul escaped from Hell, but by the time all is said and done, we could have Spencer to thank for undoing "One More Day" and restoring Peter's relationship with Mary Jane...so, of course, Marvel is then going to take the original web-slinger off the board!

Check out these new covers for Amazing Spider-Man #75, #76, and #77 below:

Maybe for a few years, but Parker's days are definitely not over (ever)

@bkmeijer - I'm just wondering what this means for the movies. They tend to try to make the comics resemble the movies. It's possible that Spiderman could be pushed to the side or at least be Sony exclusive after no way home. Not saying that's definitely happening, but it's possible with the issues with them.

@Origame - for the movies I kinda expect Peter Parker to stay in the MCU, but all the other Spider-characters be in the Sony Universe.

Maybe Ben Reilly will be the main Spider-Man soon, but I can only see that happen if Sony also has him as the main Spider-Man in their movies if Peter Parker is in the MCU (and Miles in the animated movies).

@bkmeijer - might be too. But I don't see Ben being the Spiderman in the comics if Peter is the Spiderman in the mcu.

If they're going the route of splitting the character between Peter and Ben, with one going to each universe, then I see them pulling a Howard the duck and making mcu Spiderman be Ben but strongly imply he's actually the real Peter. Remember, Sony does still have the rights to the character.

@Origame - yeah could be the case too. Either way, the comics are probably gonna have the most popular Spider-Man from the movies (which I'll admit, is most likely the MCU version).

@Origame - I wouldn't be mad if the movies focused on Miles Morales for awhile, then picked up in a few years with an adult Peter Parker.

@Mansuper - I've gotta disagree, mostly because the mcu Peter took so much from miles. Miles would have to be a completely different character basically.

@Origame - well if you read comics (most people on this site do not) you would know that Scarlet Witch just got killed, Peter dies in October (to be replaced with another Spider-Man?) and "The Death of Dr Strange" is right around the corner as well. What do those 3 characters have to do with each other in the movies? Strange is in Spidey3 and Wanda is in Multiverse of Madness... you seeing the connection yet?

@Makiveli21 - I'm not saying anything will really come from this. I'm saying it's possible due to how comics try to have synergy with the movies.

@Mansuper - havent the movies focused on white Miles so far?

My God we're doing a death of spiderman again, Marvel writers have become intellectual bankrupt. They'll bench Parker until sales really start slipping they'll bring him back. This is part of the reason I don't read marvel anymore.

@Rokhorn - if you did read you would know he technically didn't die in Superior, and if this upcoming "death" gives us some resolution to OMD then we're more than ready for it. The OMD stuff needs some kind of end in the actual story- killing Peter so he can go to hell to deal with Mephisto might have been the most straight up way to do it.
