There's a new symbiote superstar wreaking havoc in the Marvel Universe, and his name is Symbie. But who is this mischievous—and adorable—little glob, and more importantly, where did he come from?
This June, those questions and more will finally be answered in Amazing Spider-Man: Symbie #1, a special one-shot spinning out of Amazing Spider-Man from writer Joe Kelly and artist David Baldeón.
Originally created by the team behind Disney Jr.'s Spidey and his Amazing Friends TV show, Symbie has been popping up all over Marvel comics since his debut in Amazing Spider-Man #11, which was written by Joe Kelley and illustrated by Pepe Larraz.
Additional comic book appearances include the previously released Spidey and his Amazing Friends #1 CGD 2026, written by Spidey and his Amazing Friends staff writer Danielle Kreger; Symbie Infinity Comic by Jacob Chabot; and Marvel Mutts Infinity Comic by MacKenzie Cadenhead and Enid Balám, as well as the upcoming Spidey and his Amazing Friends #1 Halloween Trick-or-Read 2026 comic.
Alongside a main story oozing with secret symbiote lore, the issue will also feature a bonus backup tale by writer/artist Jacob Chabot in the same spirit as the hit Symbie Infinity Comic.
Here's the official description for Amazing Spider-Man: Symbie #1:
SECRET SYMBI-ORIGINS!
Spidey met the weird little monster in space but had no idea of the little glob’s history. Take a journey back to the very beginning of the Klyntar race that led to Venom and Carnage and see the journey Symbie has made. It may surprise you!
Talking about introducing Symbie to comic readers, Kelly said, "From the moment I saw the Symbie design from the Spidey and his Amazing Friends show team, I was giddy - both because he's adorable and also oddly... sinister. There's something intriguing about a symbiote in the Marvel Universe that runs around without a host. It's weird and unnerving, right?"
"Even when it's adorable, maybe more so because it's adorable. That is a fun character - layered and built to subvert expectations," the writer continued. "Much like Symbie himself, this book is funny, layered, surprisingly dark, and flat-out weird. It's a blast."
