A.X.E.: JUDGMENT DAY Brings The Biggest Conflict Ever To The Marvel Universe As A Celestial Rises!

This summer, the Marvel Universe will be judged by a power greater than anything they’ve encountered before in A.X.E.: Judgement Day, the latest Marvel Comics crossover event.

Written by Kieron Gillen with artwork by Valerio Schiti, the story will find the Avengers, X-Men, and Eternals embroiled in a deadly conflict. Kicking off after the Eternals attack mutantkind's new home on Krakoa, the event promises to pay off various plot threads that have defined these franchises in recent years including mutantkind’s newfound immortality, the Eternals' discovery of long-hidden truths about their species, and the Avengers intense dealings with the Celestials.

The first two issues go on sale in July, and in those, it appears a new Celestial will rise to cast judgement on Earth if the cover art below is any indication. The X-Men claim they’re the planets’ new gods, the Eternals know that position is already filled, and the Avengers are about to realize exactly how many secrets their so-called friends have kept from them.

Gillen will also team up with artist Guiu Vilanova to explore the root of the Eternals' fury against mutantkind and the schism it’s causing in their society in a three-issue limited series beginning in July titled A.X.E.: Death to the Mutants. The mutants are Deviants, Eternals are coded to correct excess deviation, and while they don't want to kill the mutants, they may not have a choice.

Take a look at some newly revealed cover art below:

I couldn't make it through an issue of the current Eternals run because the art was bad. I am currently hating the Avengers run but I'm loving the x-men stuff. I wonder how these factors will affect my enjoyment of this event

@Crtdacct2say - which artist are you trying to insult here? Esad Ribic? Dude he's one of the best artists of all time. His line at comic cons go all the way around the building. He only uses paint... he's literally a comic book artist LEGEND. But yeah throw your 2 cents in.

@Makiveli21 - I don't know the persons name. I just know I wasn't liking it. Good for them, they were clearly doing well if they are already working for marvel but that doesn't change my opinion nor does it really stay on topic.

@bobevanz - I think they are potential clues. If the events of the comics are well received then we could definitely things from them translate to the movies. But I'm not so sure they are writing the comics knowing pieces of them will be in the movies. If anything, the comics tend to mimic the movies more nowadays, which is a shame.

@bobevanz - Oh they absolutely do. When Feige became the head of all Marvel rather than just Marvel studios, I started watching the synergy between the comics and the MCU.

On the comics side there were several recent conspicuous miniseries for characters who then were confirmed for MCU appearances or had a known MCU project coming up.

Miniseries like Werewolf by Night, Black Knight, Taskmaster, USAgent, Shang-Chi, Red Guardian & Yelena Belova: Widowmakers, Falcon & The Winter Soldier, Kang, America Chavez, Kate Bishop, etc., etc.

So based on that synergistic trend, I keep an eye on any non-A lister who gets a miniseries out of the blue as people who will likely appear in the MCU sooner rather than later. Ka-Zar, Reptil, Darkhawk, Squadron Supreme, and so on

Those covers are pretty rad though

I'm so far removed from these comics. I couldn't care less about Events anymore. It's always some ultimate threat, and we wonder who's gonna die and for how long, but ultimately it's pointless. I just don't care anymore. It's almost too much. Even these covers, while cool, are overwhelming and crammed with characters that couldn't possibly all get actual substantial development. Its just a "who's gonna die" bait.
