The main plotpoint of Captain America: Civil War was the conflict between Steve Rogers and Tony Stark, and during audio commentary for the Blu-Ray, Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely revealed how the short-lived Agent Carter TV series laid the groundwork for the growing tension between Captain America and Iron Man.

"We wanted to make sure in the final episode of season 1 of Agent Carter that Howard said something to the effect of ‘Steve Rogers is the greatest thing I ever did.'” As FSR points out, this "sets up the rivalry between Tony, and his ‘greatest’ creation, Steve". This was actually touched upon in the first Avengers  movie when Tony references what his father thought of Steve, but  was never explored any further until Civil War

Captain America: Civil War is available on Digital HD now, and will be released on Blu-ray, DVD, and VOD on September 13th, 2016.

I like how Civil War was built up over multiple movies & shows. it adds that emotional build-up that made the final fight amazing.
