COMICS: It Looks Like We're Getting Another CLONE SAGA As Marvel Reveals SPIDER-MAN: DEAD NO MORE Details

Ever since the title was relaunched, Amazing Spider-Man has been dropping some pretty major hints abot the next big event story for the wall-crawler. A mysterious man in a red mask has been bringing characters from Peter Parker's past back from the dead, but it turns out that "Dead No More" is actually going to be titled "The Clone Conspiracy", an apparent follow-up to The Clone Saga.

The Jackal will be the big bad of this tale, but it sounds like he has than just cloning on his mind these days. In fact, it looks like he'll be stepping up a real big bad for Spidey. "The Jackal has always seemed to be obsessed with cloning Spider Man and Gwen. He’s had a very narrow focus," writer Dan Slott says. "That’s led to very interesting stories in the past, but you have to stop and think, if you’re The Jackal and you take science to the next level, what’s more important to you than just cloning Gwens and Peters? What does this character want, and what’s he going to do with this awesome science?"

According to Entertainment Weekly, "The Clone Conspiracy" will be a five issue miniseries written by Slott and with art by Jim Cheung. Issue #1 hits stands in October, and the main series will be building up to that over the next few months. Inevitably, there's going to be a long list of tie-ins to go with it. I gave up on Amazing Spider-Man a while ago, and the prospect of more long dead characters being resurrected doens't really excite me, but there's definitely lots to be intrigued by here. Thoughts?

Also, don't let the title incense you; Slott has handled clone-related storylines before, quite well, actually.

I liked Straczynski's Spider-Man the best up until One More Day. He felt more authentic and grown and his problems, like a failed marriage and teaching troubled students, felt more to me where Spider-Man would end up as he became an adult. Not someone who owns a billion dollar company and lives like James Bond with a spider on his chest.

@assasincow100 - I feel the same. I really like how JMS wrote the whole Spider-cast and he told some great stories in the first half of his run. I stopped reading ASM a while back but just hearing the new direction, super-rich Peter, does nothing to take my interest.
