COMICS: Marvel Announces Plans For "Epic Collection" Trade Paperbacks

While they may be busy forging ahead with "Marvel NOW!", the publisher has today announced plans to reprint trade paperbacks featuring various well-known storylines and creative team runs in their entirety. Read on for details!

In an interview with Collected Editions (via Comic Book Resources, Marvel Senior Vice President of Sales David Gabriel has revealed that they will be launching the "Epic Collection" this Fall. They will include a complete story or run; the Thor one below for example will feature issues #383 - 400 of that series. With an expected retail price of between $34.99 and $39.99, will you guys add books such as these to your collection? Be sure to sound off with your thoughts in the usual place!


This fall, Marvel launches the Epic Collections – a new way for fans to collect their favorite series!

Each super-sized volume in the Epic line presents a heaping helping of Marvel's greatest heroics in one handy, affordable and self-contained package. What's more, each Epic Collection TPB is also a piece of a grand puzzle: When all is said and done, the Epic volumes will fit seamlessly next to one another on readers' bookshelves, presenting a complete and unbroken run of each title!

So be sure to get in on the ground floor! Marvel's most storied titles — including Amazing Spider-Man, Avengers, Captain America, Fantastic Four, Iron Man and Thor — are going Epic, and there's no turning back!

thor trade paperback is a classic run,artist ron frenz reminds me very much like jack kirby.

the mighty thor 385 is one of the best thor vs hulk stories ever!

the mighty thor 395-400 thor vs seth the serpent god is another classic

worth buying if you don't own the originals

I love getting my storylines in a full graphic novel, or set of novels. I hate waiting for the next issue to find out what happened. Yes, I am impatient that way.

Now here's the question. Are these going to be actual color reprints? As Marvel's last "super sized and affordable" line of trades, the Essentials collection, was black and white.

Must do more homework on these, as there are more than a few classic storylines I'd love to collect in this format. It's amazing how many storylines I kind of shook my head at as a kid while reading them are something I've been itching to reread again.

Great news, I just don't understand why don't they reprint Walt Simonson's Thor. As I know it's the most famous Thor storyline and it's out of print (even that freakin big omnibus).
