COMICS: Marvel Teases The DEATH OF X For Fall 2016

And it doesn't look like the "X" stands for a certain character, more hints that several or even all of our merry band of mutants may be facing a bleak fate. No details on plot or a creative team just yet, but check out the teaser image from Marvel after the jump...

Yes, another "Death Of" event is coming our way in the Fall. All we have to go on is the teaser below, but it certainly suggests that the X-Men's days could be numbered.

The mutant population is currently at the mercy of the Terrigen Mist-resulting M-Pox, which has left them sterile and also proved lethal to existing members of the race - so there's a pretty good chance this is related. Then again, Marvel does like to surprise us... on occasion.

They're going to kill Professor X for the 8th time.

@blackandyellow - He's died and come back so many times he puts the Phoenix Force to shame.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but, the fact that I grew up with the X men, and continually see them get brushed aside now in favor of the Avengers, has caused me to stop reading Marvel's books. I don't like what their doing lately, and I don't care for the state of their world after Secret Wars.

Wolverine,Spider-Man,Iron man, Hulk. Those are my all time favorites. Plus Captain America and Thor are two of the most important characters to this universe. Someone do me a favor, show me a picture of those six characters from a couple years ago. Then show me a picture of them now. I have no interest in what they're doing.

@WYLEEJAY - There really is soooo much potential for the X-Men that gets left in the dirt. But what keeps me from reading their comics is the fact that at any given point to understand the X-Men story, you need to read at least 4-5 different monthlies. Some of us don't have that kinda cash and/or interest.

@WYLEEJAY - I know what you mean this new movie-centric Marvel is not MY Marvel, not the one I grew up with. :(

@nikgrid - What makes me the angriest is when they straight up change the comics to to better suit the movies. Like when they just up and changed Starlord's comic book costume to the GotG movie version with zero explanation, not even acknowledging it. It was just...there. I hate that crap.

And it has nothing to do with Wolverine and Thor being women now. Or Captain America black. Or Hulk asian. I'm sure those things are temporary anyway. Many times someone else has taken up the mantle. It's the fact that their changing so much at once to the point it isn't even recognizable anymore.

I wonder if this is a transformation of the mutants with the X-gene. Mutants are already infected with the M-Pox from exposure of the Terrigan Mist, Marvel could be changing the DNA of mutants and mutating them closer to Inhumans.

"Watch as we dramatically kill off characters! We'll never bring them back this time, we promise!!! *cough-in 2016-cough*"

Damn, I hope this isn't the end of the X-gene and them becoming Inhumans. The All-new, All-Different X-Titles are great so far especially All-New X-Men.

...I am hoping this kills off all the X-MEn in the current Marvel universe, so they can be re-booted in their pocket universe, like they should have done in the 90's. X-Men doesn't make sense with other super heroes running around.

The X-men have been dead for years now. Might as well make it official.
