COMICS: Will November See Fantastic Four #600 And The Return Of Johnny Storm?

A teaser released today by Marvel, on the 50th anniversary of the team, seems to indicate that the book will once again take on the original numbering and title later this year. Is the Human Torch coming back?!

Bleeding Cool point out the following teaser image, which may just indicate that the Fantastic Four will return to its original numbering this November. What makes them think that you ask? Well, the title wrapped up last year following the death of Johnny Storm at #588, and began instead with the retitled FF #1. As the site points out, both #10 and #11 will be released in October, making it the perfect time to then return to #600. With the teaser boasting the original symbol, and an all star cast of writers and artists, this seems to be a very likely outcome.

The question that remains, is does this mean we'll see the return of Johnny Storm? Why else would the FF (Future Foundation) seemingly return to being the Fantastic Four? Who knows what writer Jonathan Hickman has up his sleeve!

This whole turn of events from killing Human Torch to renaming the book and going back to the original numbering with the possible return to Human Torch sounds so gimmicky.

When Captain America and Batman did it they were stories that happened organically but this sounds like an attempt to jump on a popular trend just to be popular.

We all know that comic book deaths don't carry much weight to begin with, but atleast while they're "dead" writers have time to go other directions and maybe make something happen that in itself will become great and last a long time, but when they make such a huge deal about someone dying and then bring them back THAT DAMN QUICK is just fuc†ing ridiculous. Completely cheapens an already cheap gimmick. Cable's also already coming back.

If it's so damn important to make an epic 600th issue, they should have killed human torch in #600

@AlcoholicA

I think everyone expects a dead superhero to come back but yes bringing them back so quickly when in the past few years so many have been killed off leaves no drama and makes the stories seem more standard and less special.

@AlcoholicA you couldnt have put it in better words. bringing back the torch so soon would ruin his death. maybe have jim hammond take the role, as his series was cancelled

@al. I think Cap's was as it was relevant to the Civil War climate, but Batman's was more than a little bizarre, but giving Dick a chance in the cowl was probably worth it some would say.

OMG they just killed him off. This is getting retarded.
IMO the death of heroes and their return issues never really interest me, except for Batman's latest return that was kinda interesting.

it'll be the original human torch, lol.

anyway, didn't Marvel say that he would be staying dead for a very long time? if it is Johnny, then that would just make them look like a bunch of liars.

@ tea

also, when that skrull bitch Lyja was on the team, it was still called Fantastic Four.

Maybe they'll just keep spidey. but i doubt it

you know what would be really cool and edgy? is if they brought in a new guy with the same powers as human torch, only he's black and gay!

Hickman said just the other day, that Johnny would never return while he writes FF.

He also said there would be an upcoming issue where they go more in depth with what happened when Johnny got left behind, and show more of his death. This is probably going to be that.

this is why i dont read mainstream, nobody can stay dead and there's about 300 universes to follow just to have a faint clue of whats going on

Johnny Storm is one of my favorite Marvel characters BUT HE BETTER STAY DEAD!!! I'm so [frick]ing tired of this retarded gimmick! PASS THE TORCH ALREADY!!!

how can they pass on the chance to do two crappy gimmicks at once? Restoring the original number to capture the 600th issue should be seen for the sales gimmick it is, coming so soon after renaming the book and renumbering it to capture those brisk #1 issue sales. Couple this with the opportunity to bring back a supposedly "dead" character, and score the hat trick by generating mainstream media publicity. That sounds like modern Marvel to me all right. The House of Ideas has a bad case of Formosan termites.

Probably. Heroes dont stay dead in the comics for more than a few months.

i think its kinda bullshit!! hes been "dead" for what 3 months, just kinda stupid, just shows they only did it to sell comics, and bringing him back will only sell more

I read a few issues of FF and it didn't really grab me. I've never been much of a Fantastic four fan, but they're not really the kind of team you can change the roster and name of. They're so iconic that any change made jus feels temporary, like Dick taking over as Batman or Bucky taking over as Captain America. That said, Johnny hasn't even been dead a year. Bringing him back this soon would set a new low for ridiculous stunts that aren't intended to stick.

I think it would be great to see Reed build his own Synthetic Human and revive a more original version of Human Torch only to find out that the Johnny is still alive, lost in another dimension and finally Johnny comes home and the Synthetic Human Torch turns villanous by Ultron.

They're just going to change the team name back to Fantastic Four. They don't have to have the original four for that. They've had many members over the years, from She-Hulk to Luke Cage.

The only time I've ever really read the book on a consistent basis was in the late 80's. The team consisted of Thing, She-Thing (Ms. Marvel 2), Human Torch and Crystal. Crystal left, leaving the FF with only 3 members. Shortly thereafter, Reed and Sue left the Avengers and rejoined the FF making their roster 5 members strong.

Hell, from #347-349 the Hulk, Spider-Man, Wolverine, and Ghost Rider (Dan Ketch) made up the team.

As far as I'm concerned Johnny never died, they structured his death in a way that looked like he was going to die but never showed it. The panel just showed him being swarmed by creatures, but Thing didnt stick around to actually see Johnny die. Who didnt look at that panel and not question his death? Johnny is just stuck in the negative zone have they even tried to go back to get his body? wouldnt you try for your family member?
Marvel and Hickman structured it in away that is smoke and mirrors, this way Marvel can say hes dead to his family and friends cause they think hes dead but in reality hes still alive so they're not lying just not telling you everything. If hes alive in the negative zone still then thats why they're bringing him back so soon cause if they wait to long then it looks bad on the other charecters for not trying to find him.
Just my opinion though

It would be great to have Johnny back, but it would also have made everything that happened to him basically one big publicity stunt that meant nothing. It's way too early to bring him back.

i highly doubt that the new F4 it will be Sue, Reed, Ben and Johnny. it'll be some other super heores like she-hulk or beast with two others. if they brought Torch back and disbanned the FF, i wouldnt be very happy..
