DAREDEVIL: Marvel Comics Shares First Details And Thrilling First Look At Upcoming Landmark Issue #650

Writer Chip Zdarsky and artist Marco Checchetto's Eisner-nominated Daredevil run kicked off with a radical new saga yesterday that promises to explore both Matt Murdock and Elektra Natchios journeys as Daredevil.

The extraordinary debut issue welcomed readers to the darkest Hell’s Kitchen era to date, and next month, the most legendary artists from throughout Daredevil history will join Zdarsky and Checchetto in Daredevil #2 for a giant-sized celebration to mark the Man Without Fear's milestone 650th issue.

Among them will be Rafael DeLatorre, Alex Maleev, Paul Azaceta, Phil Noto, Chris Samnee, Klaus Janson, and Mike Hawthorne.

In the aftermath of Devil's Reign, everything it has ever meant to be Daredevil has changed. Thanks to Elektra and her newfound role as the Woman Without Fear, Daredevil is more ambitious than ever. With a who’s-who of creators from across the fabled character’s history (and some can’t-miss surprises along the way), this oversized epic kicks off the next year of Chip Zdarsky and Marco Checchetto’s landmark run on daredevil in explosive style!

"It’s not often that a comic gets to issue two these days , so...oh wait, it’s issue 650?! Well in that case I’m over the moon that we get to celebrate with so many legendary Daredevil creators!" Zdarsky says. "Daredevil is a title that has had so many amazing runs that it wouldn’t feel right to have an anniversary issue without inviting the people who made the book so special for so many years."

Check out Checchetto's cover below along with a variant by Gary Frank and some must-see interior artwork. Daredevil #2/#650 will arrive in comic book stores on August 17!

Really enjoyed issue #1 aka #649. Matt saying goodbye to the city and Spider-Man was handled so well. There was both a warmth to it and an extreme sadness. Matt reconciling with what purpose violence truly serves in bringing peace was really interesting. I liked how he really wrestled with whether he can virtuosuly bring peace through brutality.

It was great to see Stick back as well. Checettoo's art is great as always. Gritty and gorgeous.

Nice cover and the art style is very good as well. A little beard on Daredevil reminds me to Charlie Cox's take too.

Like how they portray Matt's sonar skill too.

And a nice detail showing that woman from the window catching a glipse of him manuevering through Hell's Kitchen.

Daredevil really has an almost supernatural ability to get the best storylines. Which is kind of a shame for him to be crossing over with Punisher, who has an almost supernatural ability to get the worst storylines.

@Reeds2Much - Daredevil arguably has the most consistent, best comic runs of any superhero in Marvel or DC. I’ve read all of them except for the Stan Lee and Roy Thomas runs (read a few issues here and there from both) and none are anything less than decent.

@Origame - She’s Elektra, and she’s also Daredevil.

@DTor91 - ...my point is she shouldn't be daredevil. Especially now that Matt is back. It's taking away from the real daredevil and it's insulting to the legacy of elektra by giving her someone else's pre-established identity.

Somebody explain the pants to me please. Are they cargo pants or the superhero spandex?

I love Elektra's full-on superhero arc. Leading the Savage Avengers, and everything. My favorite Marvel character at her peak.
