With the Deadpool & Wolverine movie fast approaching, this summer will belong to pop culture's favourite frenemies. However, it's not just in theaters we'll see the Merc with the Mouth and Logan cross paths; they're reuniting on the page as well!
We've already told you about Deadpool & Wolverine: WWIII, and Marvel Comics has today announced a special new team-up saga that will run across eight Marvel titles this summer as bonus backup tales.
Written by Ryan North (Fantastic Four) and illustrated by Javier Garrón (Avengers), Weapon X-Traction will begin in July's Incredible Hulk #14. With no increase on the select issue's pricing, the backup stories will offer readers a dose of Wolverine/Deadpool action at no extra charge.
Weapon X-Traction kicks off when a weary Wolverine runs into a clingy Deadpool at a favourite watering hole. From this humble beginning, they embark on an epic journey of non-friendship that will carry them across the multiverse, battling zombies and gun-wielding librarians...and one another, of course.
Unsurprisingly, Marvel Comics is pushing the boat out to capitalise on what's sure to be a huge summer at the box office for Deadpool & Wolverine. Comic book sales have continued to decline despite the MCU's success, but this backup tale sounds like a fun way to give current readers even more of these two icons.
The whole "frenemies" angle is also telling as that's how we expect Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman's respective versions of these characters to be portrayed on screen.
