Elektra isn't ready to give up the Daredevil mantle just yet!

After first suiting up as the Devil of Hell's Kitchen back in 2020 when Matt Murdock went to prison for manslaughter, internationally-feared assassin Elektra Natchios is set to return as Daredevil in the pages of a new Marvel Comics miniseries, Woman Without Fear.

Spinning out of Saladin Ahmed and Aaron Kuder’s Daredevil run, the series will mark writer Erica Schultz’s return to the character, following her work on Daredevil: Gang War. She will be joined by Hallow's Eve artist, Michael Dowling.

In her latest adventure, Elektra will make her way to Wolverine's old haunt of Madripoor, where she will face-off against the likes of Crossbones, the new Punisher, and more.

"After the stunning events of Daredevil #11, Daredevil’s allies are left more vulnerable than ever before," reads the official synopsis. "If they’re able to survive, it will fall to Elektra and Matt Murdock to not only save their city as Daredevil, but also protect the people they love the most as they’re targeted by some of the most dangerous, violent elements the Marvel Universe has to offer!"

"To say that I am excited about writing Daredevil again is an understatement," Schultz shared. "I love the mantle of Daredevil, but I really love Elektra as Daredevil. Having written both Matt and Elektra wearing the red DD, I kind of lean toward the latter now!"

Elektra was played by Jennifer Garner on the big screen, and Elodie Yung in Netflix's Daredevil series. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the character will appear in Disney+'s upcoming Daredevil: Born Again, despite the likes of Karen Page, Foggy Nelson and Fran Castle returning.

"Oh my gosh, I would love that," Yung said of potentially reprising the role for Born Again. "It’s so funny because my fans are like, 'Can you come back?' and I’m like, 'Ask Mr. Marvel, you have to ask Mr. Marvel for that, not me."

@BaddestOptics - Im aware shes been Daredevil. As a temporary measure. Now they are both running around. Why can she just be Elektra? Like what is the literal point of her using that name?

You know, the more I think about it the more I realize they needed to give elektra the daredevil mantle. That way they can keep pretending there weren't bada$$ female characters in the past, proving all this sh!t about needed representation is complete bs.

AvalonX - 4/16/2024, 9:42 PM
@Origame - Exactly. Why what wrong with her as Elektra? Its the same thing with X-23. She was cooler with her own identity instead of I am also Wolverine.

Sad they don't value Elektra as Elektra. But typical Marvel.

Crossbones is a great villain! Shame that MCU killed him so soon. He could be in Thunderbolts movie!

I never understand why an established an awesome female character - like Elektra or X-23 - and then have them take an another character’s mantle.
Origame
Origame - 4/16/2024, 9:16 PM
@mountainman - it's funny how the crowd that insists women can do everything men can do and "deserve representation" are also the same crowd who won't count a female character unless she takes an already established mantle originally owned by a man.

Even captain marvel, feminist hero of the ages, was a mantle originally owned by a man 🤣
ObserverIO
ObserverIO - 4/17/2024, 5:55 AM
@Origame - She is that man. Carol Danvers became Mar-Vell when she got his powers. She had to reconcile his identity with hers.

She is him.
Origame
Origame - 4/17/2024, 6:20 AM
@ObserverIO - ...wtf are you talking about? That's not at all what happened.

She gained his powers but mar-vell was still his own character separate from her. She was ms marvel for years while mar-vell remained captain marvel.

It was only very recently they decided to make her captain marvel.
ObserverIO
ObserverIO - 4/17/2024, 7:38 AM
@Origame - What you just said is how everybody remembers it. But read those comics again.
ObserverIO
ObserverIO - 4/17/2024, 7:42 AM
@Origame - Physically Mar-Vell was a separate person. But it was basically very much like the Rogue/Ms Marvel thing. Carol became a part of Rogue's psyche and she had to reconcile her own self with that, while Carol was in a coma.

It was the same with Carol. She had all of Mar-Vell's memories and in the flashbacks, Mar-Vell was female, because it was her remembering Mar-Vell's life as herself. It wasn't until she was tortured with the psychomagnetron (or whatever the [frick] it was called) that she started to reconcile her two selves.

I think you're confusing having some memories with actually being the person.

The fact mar vell was a separate person after she got her powers and continued to make appearances after his death proves they're two different people.
ObserverIO
ObserverIO - 4/17/2024, 7:51 AM
@Origame - Potatoes tomatoes. Is Ben Reilly not Peter Parker? Is alternate future Peter Parker not Peter Parker also? Is Death's Head II not Death's Head? Is a potato not a tomato?
Origame
Origame - 4/17/2024, 7:53 AM
@ObserverIO - let's put it this way, the video game assassins creed had characters reliving the memories of their ancestors. Sometimes their full lives, like when Desmond relived the life of ezio. This has caused people to suffer from what's known as the bleeding effect where they can't reconcile their actual memories from the memories of their ancestors.

This, however, doesn't mean the descendant now is their ancestor. It very clearly is a psychological disorder.

Memories are not the person. Do you also think professor x is literally everyone?
Origame
Origame - 4/17/2024, 8:00 AM
@ObserverIO - 1) no Ben isn't Peter. And that story completely debunks your point as they're two very different characters despite having the same memories.

2) he's Peter in that his name is Peter Parker. But they have different lives and experiences. They're different people.

3) I have no idea who that is.

4) the fact you asked that thinking it's profound removed all of your credibility
ObserverIO
ObserverIO - 4/17/2024, 8:22 AM
@Origame - "This, however, doesn't mean the descendant now is their ancestor."

But if Marty McFly ended up impregnating his mom and she named the kid Marty, would he be his own father?

Also, you don't know Death's Head? I am a little surprised at that, tbh. Death's Head was a Marvel UK character that was big in the '90s. He's basically the flagship Marvel UK character. He looked like this originally:

But then he went up against a cyborg named Minion who "Assimilates the instincts" of the people he kills (he Rogues them basically). And then Death's Head's personality takes over Minion and he becomes Death's Head II.

But I guess it's different with robotics. Like a certain sentient program can hack and and take over the main systems mainframe or some such nonsense. So maybe that's different.
Origame
Origame - 4/17/2024, 8:35 AM
@ObserverIO -...ok, first of all, that's a completely different thing. We're not talking about time travel causing variants. We're talking about memories, because that's what your argument hinges on.

And based on the back to the future logic, the result wouldn't be Marty as we know him. It would either be an entirely new baby just named Marty (that has some genetic disorder due to being the product of inbreeding), or he would be wiped from existence along with the baby because the narrative of back to the future made it clear george was the father and he needed to impregnate Loraine to make Marty.

As for death head, it's a computer program. Effectively his consciousness. That's entirely different from memory.

Nowhere says she's taken Matt's mantle. Last time I checked both were using it, so I guess that status quo hasn't change then and they're still co-wearing it.

Cool cover.

@NinnesMBC - Which is stupid. Co-wearing it? Shes a bad ass Ninja who led the Hand. Why does she need to co-opt his identity?
ObserverIO
ObserverIO - 4/17/2024, 5:57 AM
@NinnesMBC - In the comics Elektra and Daredevil are co-wearing the mantle.

In real life they're co-parenting their kids.

Interesting.

We really need to decide which character will be the female Captain America. They already have Thor, Hulk, Ironman, Hawkeye, Spiderman, Wolverine, Moonknight, and Daredevil covered. Clea already replaced Strange but that came and went and I'm sure Im missing a few mentions.

Elektra is actually cool. Let her be that.

Her Daredevil suit is so damn good that I can't complain about her sticking with the name a while longer.

Given how we seem to get Elektra mini's every few years, I'm guessing she returns to her usual name at the end of this with a variation of the suit.

Elektra died a long time ago.

Her ghost haunted Matt for a while and her spirit scaled a cliff and made it to the peak whereupon she was cleansed of her blood-soaked past and reborn.

And that was the end of the story.

"I love the mantle of Daredevil" its not a mantle, its literally the name of Matt Murdock's superhero alter ego, anyone else is a derivative rip off version.

This "mantle" gaslighting is getting old. The only Marvel superhero name I can think of as actually being a mantle is Black Panther, but even then who cares that much if it isn't T'Challa.
