GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Blaze Through A Dark Corner Of The Cosmos In Trailer For Upcoming Comic Book Relaunch

Next month, the Guardians of the Galaxy enter uncharted depths of space in a new comic book run by writers Collin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing. The duo behind Steve Rogers' ongoing adventures in Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty will be joined by artist Kev Walker, known for his acclaimed artwork on Predator.

Today, you can get a first look at this exciting new era in a thrilling comic book trailer, featuring never-before-seen artwork.

The first issue introduces an overwhelming new cosmic threat to the Marvel Universe, one that emerged from the very heart of the team: Grootfall. This mysterious phenomenon will push Marvel’s beloved team of intergalactic superheroes to the Manifold Territories: an uncharted, lawless area of Marvel space filled with never-before-visited planets and undiscovered alien species.

The Guardians have been brought to their lowest depths and their found family is fractured like never before. Trying to outrun their tragedy, the Guardians rise as the Folds' only chance at salvation. Can they rediscover their heroism and humanity on the bleakest frontier? Can they forgive the failures of their past? Or will they fade into the dark, eternally unforgiven?

In this trailer, we see the lineup of the new run in action including Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Nebula, and Mantis. There's also a glimpse at the devastating effects of Grootfall and a hunt of the true, galaxy-bending might of what the Guardians are up against.

"These characters have been psychedelic superheroes, lovable smugglers, and cosmic warfighters who are living under constant chaos. This was a chance to take them somewhere completely different," Lanzing says. "So, the Western became a way for us to say that the tone of this book is going to be different from the Guardians books that you’re familiar with, and it allows us to get a little crazier."

Kelly adds, "I think fans can also get excited about the structure of our run. Initially, we’re popping off five individual issues. This is the story of every week coming to a new town and discovering the trauma, drama, and pain, then engaging with that and not necessarily resolving it in the best of ways, but stepping into it in their own way and then coming out the other side."

Check out the trailer below ahead of Guardians of the Galaxy #1's release in comic book stores on April 12.

Hoping for anything readable from Marvel these days. Nothing they have to offer right now gets me excited. Last time I made regular trips to the LCS was for HoXPoX. I may check Ultimate Invasion out though.

@HydraB0b - The thing about Ultimate Invasion is I'm convinced it will not have the same edginess that the Ultimate Universe had. That was a big staple of the entire line and I really don't see Disney allowing it to that degree.
