Kate Bishop's long-awaited comic book return is nearly upon us, and the archer will take centre stage in Hawkeye: Kate Bishop starting next month. The five-issue limited series comes our way from New York Times bestselling writer Marieke Nijkamp and rising star artist Enid Balám.
The series will pick up as the young hero moves back to New York and gets caught up in a dangerous mission at a mysterious local resort. The saga promises to be a must-have for fans of Kate Bishop and an ideal entry point for newcomers to the adventures of this breakout star ahead of Hawkeye's Disney+ debut on November 24 (where Hailee Steinfeld plays the character).
"Because Kate’s story is in flux right now, it’s the perfect time to jump on board for the adventure," Nijkamp told Bustle during a recent interview. "You don’t need to know where she was to enjoy the journey." It's certainly interesting that this is a limited series, though Marvel Comics may have learned that launching a new ongoing to coincide with movies and TV shows doesn't always work.
If this is a hit, though, then there's every chance we'll continue seeing more of Kate on the page.
Hawkeye: Kate Bishop #1 is set to be released on November 17, and a new trailer has been released showcasing what fans can expect from the limited series. This should be a lot of fun, and cover art for the issue has also found its way online showing the fan-favourite archer in action.
