Nick Spencer is wrapping up his Amazing Spider-Man run this September, and Marvel Comics has now confirmed that Kelly Thompson, Saladin Ahmed, Cody Ziglar, Patrick Gleason, and Zeb Wells are all set to work on the series. Gleason is the only artist there, but he's also a writer, so it seems we're going to get a revolving door of talent similar to the "Brand New Day" era.
This fresh start is being hyped up as "Spider-Man Beyond," and it's definitely exciting to think about what this means for Peter Parker. As you can see in the teaser images below, it looks like something bad is going to happen to Pete, and it seems that may lead to Ben Reilly's return as Spider-Man.
The Scarlet Spider was resurrected as the villainous Jackal during Dan Slott's "Clone Conspiracy" storyline but has since returned to his heroic nature. If "One More Day" really is about to be undone, perhaps Peter will have to give up being Spider-Man so he can get his happy ending with MJ?
The mention of The Beyond Corporation is also interesting. Created by Warren Ellis and Stuart Immonen in the pages of Nextwave: Agents Of HATE, the group is a collective of beings who embody the wild spaces beyond reality. While the other entities from the "Outside" want to study and preserve the Multiverse population, the Beyond Corporation just wants to have fun.
It seems Marvel Comics might be moving on from Spidey's regular adventures to have him swing through the Multiverse...just in time for Spider-Man: No Way Home this December.
More details are set to be revealed later today, so keep checking back here for updates...
