Marvel Returning To The Wastelands Of OLD MAN LOGAN For New Titles Focusing On Wolverine, Hawkeye, & More

Marvel Comics has revisited the Old Man Logan concept on multiple occasions, but some new series will put the spotlight not just on Wolverine, but characters like Star-Lord, Doctor Doom, and Black Widow!

Marvel Comics has announced that, this December, we will return to the post-apocalyptic Wastelands of Old Man Logan in five new stories set in a world where the villains won. All-star creators including writers Steven S. DeKnight, Ethan Sacks, Rich Douek, and Torunn Grønbekk will deliver one-shots featuring Wolverine, Hawkeye, Doctor Doom, Star-Lord, and Black Widow.

In DeKnight's effort, we pick up with Wolverine days after the conclusion of the original Old Man Logan series as he fights once again to save the people of the Wastelands who have been crushed under the heel of the Red Skull and Bruce Banner. Saving the day looks different with the Baby Hulk under his care won't be easy, and he'll wind up facing a new enemy in "Downfall."

Ethan Sacks, meanwhile, will shed some light on Hawkeye's training with Stick (the hero formerly known as Daredevil), and it sounds like we'll learn a lot more about this version of Matt Murdock.

Torunn Grønbekk focuses on Doctor Doom after he helped wipe out the heroes on the Day the Villains Won, but even as he rules his domain in the Wastelands, a greater destiny calls to him. When a mysterious power blocks his oversight of a particular region, what he discovers promises to have major consequences. As for Star-Lord, Rich Douek makes his Marvel Comics debut for a story picking up after the events of the Old Man Quill series.

Finally, DeKnight is going to introduce the Wastelanders version of Black Widow, exploring how has she survived this many decades in the Wastelands undetected and her clash with The Lizard King (who we're guessing is a vastly more powerful version of the classic Spider-Man villain).

In terms of artwork, you can look forward to seeing work from Ibrahim Moustafa, Ibraim Roberson, Julius Ohta, Brent Peeples, and Well-Bee. Check out some of their work (and Steve McNiven's teaser image featuring the four heroes) below:

Maybe I'm making a stupid question but how come Black Widow, Star-Lord and Hawkeye are as old as Wolverine? Shouldn't he be looking much younger than them given his slow ageing?

@Urubrodi - from what I remember of the original comic, his healing factor might be failing during this time. Might be mixing that with Logan though.

@Urubrodi - It depends. Logan is 100's of years old, but in Old Man Logan his age is catching up to him, finally. His healing factor only slows his aging. It doesn't make him immortal, or looking forever young.

So their age puts them in their 50's or 60's (I'm assuming) and that just happens to be about how old Logan looks now too, even though he's 100's of years old. He'll still likely outlive them, assuming something aside from old age doesn't kill them.

@Urubrodi - Wolverine's healing factor does slow down as he ages, which means that he will eventually die of old age. At the age of 130, Wolverine has the physical appearance of a man in his late 30's-early 40's. At the age of 180, Old Man Logan has the physical appearance of a man in his late 50's-early 60's.

Now see, 5his is where comics, especially Marvel, tend to mess up. Old Man Logan is one of the greatest Marvel stories ever told. It was wildly popular. Leave it alone. Any time Marvel goes back to a popular story, it's almost never as good as the original. And more often than not, it's just bad.

Just, leave it alone.

Really enjoyed Old Man Hawkeye but bringing Black Widow back kind of diminishes Hawkeye's revenge tear he went on to avenge her death at the hand of the Thunderbolts in that story. Wonder how they are gonna explain the fake out death.

I have tired of the Old Man line of comics but this looks dope. I'd like a comic about the Future Hawkeye from Hickmans Avengers.

I loved Old Man Logan, and the ending was open-ended so I have no issues with them revisiting what happened afterwards. In my view it doesn’t diminish the original story at all.
