More From Jeph Loeb On Marvel's Animated And Live Action Plans!

The Marvel TV chief talks about how they plan on balancing out the number of live action and animated projects they make in the near future and shares his thoughts on the upcoming Spider-Man and Avengers series'...

"I think that there will always be more animated properties, because at the end of the day, they're easier to produce," Loeb told MTV News at the New York Comic Con. "And we now have such a good relationship with Disney that we have, on Disney XD, an opportunity to create properties that are going to be great."

"On October 20, our first real big endeavor, 'Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes' with Cap, Thor, Iron Man, and Hulk, will premiere on XD. And then about a year from now, the first show that I'll have my mitts all over is 'Ultimate Spider-Man.'"

"It's just this incredibly cool show. The challenge of that show, and for Marvel animation moving forward, is that while we're incredibly proud of everything we've done, one of the things that Joe Quesada and I talked about when we first sat down about this job, was how do we take that experience of reading a Marvel comic and bring it alive and put it in animated form."

"What you're going to see is that 'Earth's Mightiest Heroes' is the first step toward that, and 'Ultimate Spider-Man' is the next big step."

99.9% of his Marvel work is awful so I'm hoping that he'll have little involvement when it comes to scripts. He did however write some of the better Smallville episodes so perhaps he's a good choice for this job...we'll have to wait and see I guess! :)

It's all very well producing stuff for the younger viewer but I find most of these cartoons are just that much TOO kiddified.
There needs to be a balance so that us old farts are kept happy too as we're the most vocal fanbase and the ones most likely to vote with our feet should things not be made well.

i would like to see some adult animated shows like spawn,but with the likes of the punisher,moon knight,daredevil & ghost rider.

nova & silver surfer shows would work as well.

planet hulk spin off animated show of world war hulk would be awesome as well.

but of i'd rather see live action version of the shows i've mentioned.

@JoshW
Makes me cautious with what you just mentioned. But who knows, we'll just have to kick back and wait and see. Hopefully they'll be good. Hopefully. ;)

@Growler
I can feel that, and I'm just sixteen. I remember visiting my brother's place for his birthday and his 7 year old stepson was watching something on Cartoon Network and just hearing it made me cringe. Kids definately need more animation that they'll look back at when they're older and still like or still be enthused by.

@deadpool72
Exactly. Spawn was well received on HBO and since characters like the Punisher and Ghost Rider haven't fared as well in live-action it might be time to see how they are on paper. A Punisher animated series, rated TV-MA, would hopefully stay truthful to the character's mood and nihilistic senses while still creating a boundary of likeability from the audiences like Showtime's Dexter has.

Hoping in time that we see these characters done right in live-action though.

I'd like to see the x-men animated again but start with the original 5 and follow the comics add as they did and then spin off as needed.
@ deadpool agree with all those animated for adults punisher or moon knight on hbo or showtime would kick major a$$.
Another adult animated that I think would work is deadpool or warlock.

hack4u
hack4u - 10/10/2010, 5:55 PM
what they should do is a live action daredevil show. they can include special appearances from moon knight, iron fist, luke cage, dr strange, spiderman(if they get the rights back from sony), etc.

It would be like a law and order kind of thing were by day he does law and by night hes prowling the streets.

Been waiting for this Moon Knight live action series for how many years now?

A Heroes for Hire or Daredevil series could be great if done right.
