Rowan Blanchard as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel
Kamala Khan is the youngest of two children from a traditional Pakistani Family in New Jersey. Despite her traditional roots, Kamala was the typical American teenager. Wanting to be herself, but still make her family proud. For several years, Kamala was a fan of superheroes especially the Avengers and, more importantly, Carol Danvers. So much, in fact, that she started writing online fan-fiction about the Avengers and Captain Marvel. Even going as far as joining the Carol Danvers Corps online. A shape-shifting Muslim Pakistani-American teenager from New Jersey, who becomes the newest holder of the Ms. Marvel identity.
Reason for Casting: Casting Kamala was difficult as there isn't a wide array of young actresses with Pakistani lineage that could play the role. After intense searching I came across Rowan Blanchard who is only 14 as of press time and has a lead role on the critically acclaimed Disney series Girl Meets World. Her paternal grandfather was an immigrant from the Middle East and her paternal grandmother's ancestors are from England and Scandinavia.
Sajal Ali as Nakia Bahadir
Kamala's friend and schoolmate who often worries for Kamala's safety.
Reason for Casting: It seemed fitting I cast my runner-up for the Kamala role as Nakia, who serves a pivotal role in Kamala's personal life as she is one of the people that know nothing of Kamala's moonlighting as the hero Ms. Marvel.
Suki Waterhouse as Zoe Zimmer
A friend of Kamala Khan. Zoe Zimmer first appears in Ms. Marvel issue #1 and seems passively insulting towards those who aren't of an upper-class white background, though it is not certain if she does this entirely with the intent to insult or purely out of ignorance. In Issue #2, Zoe is the first person ever saved by Kamala when she first transforms into Ms. Marvel, disguising herself as Carol Danvers in her black and gold uniform.
Reason for Casting: While Zoe doesn't play a major role in the comic books, I think the role of Zoe could be greatly improved upon considering this will be a series and not a two hour film. Considering this, I chose an actresses that not only looked the part but could hold her own on-screen which Waterhouse (I honestly want to type Waterhose every time) has shown in films like Divergent.
Melanie Laurent as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel
After encountering the Kree hero Captain Marvel, Carol Danvers was accidentally subjected to otherworldly radiation that transformed her into a superhuman warrior. Calling herself Ms. Marvel, she established herself as one of Marvel's most powerful and prominent heroes, both as a solo heroine and as a member of the Avengers. She has now adopted the mantle of Captain Marvel for herself. Also Kamala Khan's hero.
Reason for Casting: I had Laurent as my Captain Marvel in my solo Captain Marvel fancast and I still really want it to happen. She's a gorgeous woman with the acting chops to play a military officer turned superhero and she can even boast that she's starred alongside an Avenger already in Mark Ruffalo. Her accent won't be an issue cause we've seen her turn it off at the drop of a dime and to boot she's already played a badass female character in Inglorious Basterds.
Danny Pudi as Jamir Khan
Jamir is Kamala's older brother. Currently unemployed, Aamir prays a lot. His parents wish he would concentrate more on getting a job, but he insists that this is all God's plan.
Reason for Casting: I'm getting into headcanon territory here to be honest. I originally intended Danny Pudi for this role considering his cameo in the Winter Soldier not giving us any context on who he is plus I love Community and the character Abed. Pudi definitely looks the part and I think Jamir being a former employee for SHIELD (let's say he quit or got fired) would be a cool dynamic for the Khan family.
Iqbal Theba as Jusuf Khan
Jusuf Khan is the father of Kamala Khan, who is secretly the super hero Ms. Marvel. He works in a bank, wishes his adult son would get a job, and is extremely protective of his teenage daughter.
Reason for Casting: Iqbal is one of those actors that you know from something. He's made appearance on Two and a Half Men, Seinfeld, Glee, The Brink, Weeds, Community (as Abed's father nonetheless), and even King of the Hill. Theba is a very known and productive actor and if you can get him to appear in something you just do. Perfect for the role of Jusuf in my opinion.
Reema Khan as Disha Khan
Disha Khan is the mother of Kamala Khan, who is secretly the super hero Ms. Marvel.
Reason for Casting: Reema is a noted Lollywood film and television actress with a wide array of films under her belt. Casting her as Disha seemed right considering her great experience. The only problem I see in this choice is I'm not actually sure and can find no sources telling me if Reema is able to speak English. Considering the humor and comedic elements of the comics I think this can be worked around using subtitles.
Vincent Martella as Bruno Carrelli
Bruno Carrelli was the only friend of Kamala Khan who knew she was secretly the super hero Ms. Marvel. He also helped her cover her heroic activities from her parents. He has a brother by the name of Vick and works at the Circle Q in Jersey City. He's also an advanced student that's been working on inventions to both aid Kamala and his own education.
Reason for Casting: Martella hasn't done enough in my opinion. He was great on Everybody Hates Chris and had a more than solid paycheck voicing Phineas on the Phineas and Ferb. Other than that he's noted as playing a zombie on The Walking Dead. An actor with his charisma and talent would be perfect for playing the second-generation Italian character of Bruno.
Noah Taylor as Thomas Edison/The Inventor
The Inventor is a failed clone of famed inventor Thomas Edison who was mixed with cockatiel DNA. He convinces teenagers of the New Jersey area that their lives would be better suited as batteries for his machines. His plans are thwarted by Ms. Marvel. The Inventor possesses a genius level intellect and uses it to build large robots and battle suits. It is not specified if any of his cockatiel DNA gives him any extra abilities but he does possess a bird beak and a birds eyes which could offer some advantages.
Reason for Casting: Even if you've never seen him in anything else, his role as Locke in Game of Thrones should be enough to convince you Taylor has the ability to play a proper villain. Predestination, Edge of Tomorrow and The Double put the exclamation point on how seriously underrated this guy is. He's seriously my only possible choice to make this character work in live-action besides Willem DaFoe.
Dee Bradley Baker as Lockjaw
An Inhuman dog with the abilities of incredible teleportation feats as well as other abilities. Serving the Inhuman Royal Family as their escort and teleportation means, Lockjaw is a loyal protector. Lockjaw is sent to aid Kamala by Medusa and is currently her loyal protector as well as companion.
Reason for Casting: A voice actor that has voiced an insurmountable amount of faces on the small screen, I think Baker could give Lockjaw that extra layer of personality if Marvel decides to have Lockjaw talk (which I hope they do). If not, Baker's talents shouldn't be wasted as he would definitely be down for the canine expressions and sounds needed.
Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Jessica Drew/Spider Woman
Jessica Drew was genetically enhanced and given super-powers by the criminal organization HYDRA, for whom she became an assassin as Spider-Woman. She later reformed and became a SHIELD agent and is currently a member of the Avengers and an Agent of SWORD. Jessica Drew is also a very close friend of the current Captain Marvel Carol Danvers and another one of Kamala's idols.
Reason for Casting: Another pick I included on my solo Captain Marvel fancast, I think Winstead would be more than perfect for this role. As to why I included Spider Woman in the first place I'm looking for a character that could fill the place of Wolverine since the X-Men are owned by Fox and are doing financially well right now. For those who don't know, Kamala and Wolverine fight alongside eachother in The Inventor's lair looking for a way out and Wolverine grows to like Kamala and calls The Inhumans to see about her getting help. I think Spider-Woman would be a perfect fit to fill this role as she has a relationship with Carol and could also be the missing link between The Avengers and The Inhumans.
Jessica Chastain as Medusa
Medusa is the Queen of the Inhumans and the primary interpreter for her husband Black Bolt, the King of the Inhumans. Medusa is best known for her long, thick head of red hair, which she can psychokinetically wield like countless extra appendages. She also assigns Lockjaw with protecting Kamala after she informs her that she is indeed Inhuman like herself.
Reason for Casting: Talk about perfect casting, I've seen this countless times before and I can;t think of a better choice than Ms. Chastain. I don't think she would see appearing as the character on a Netflix show first "beneath her" like some actresses would and it would give us our first glimpse into the world of the Inhumans before their own film comes about. If you're not convinced you can check her out in Zero Dark Thirty, The Martian and Take Shelter.
Dakota Blue Richards as Crystalia Amaquelin/Crystal
Crystal is a member of the Inhumans and the younger sister of Medusa, Queen of the Inhumans. She has the power to manipulate the four classical elements. Like other Inhumans, Crystal was exposed to the Terrigen Mists at a young age, which in her case gave her limited power over the four classical elements of fire, earth, air, and water.
Reason for Casting: Dakota Blue Richards in my opinion is a super underrated actress with not enough opportunities at her feet. She was impressive in The Golden Compass despite the film itself not being so well received and made appearances on Skins. With the right people behind the wheel, Richards could own the role of Crystal.
Robert Sheehan as Kamran
Kamran was the ability to change his skin into a blue almost crystal like color (though it doesn't appear to affect his density). He can also introduce physical energy into any object and turn said object into an explosive, a power similar to that of Gambit the mutant. He is also appears to have an above average intellect, showing interest in multiple fields of study beyond his years.
Reason for Casting: Sheehan is a gifted actor and could fit the role of Kamran (which is hopefully expanded to a possible main villain) easily. The Red Riding Trilogy was met with critical acclaim, securing him a spot for a big name role whenever he decided to take it.
Kate Beckinsale as Doctor Minerva
The blue skinned Kree genetic scientist and spy to the home-world of Kree-Lar found Captain Mar-Vell's genetic attributes as a viable mate. Gaining similar powers to Ms.Marvel she joined the Kree Starforce and later would be a major player in the end of the aging Kree Empire.
Reason for Casting: Kate is one of those rare actresses that everyone knows can be good and has shown it but hasn't been picked up for that one major role that would solidify her as a star player in Hollywood, which has been shown due to her signing on for the (sigh) next Underworld film. Doctor Minerva could be a dope character and turning point for Beckinsale.
Kiernan Shipka as Kaboom
Kaboom's Inhuman lineage and powers were discovered after Black Bolt activated the Terrigen Bomb. Following her Terrigenesis, Kaboom was recruited by Lineage. Kaboom appeared on Newark Avenue attacking innocents. Kamala was nearby, and after quickly changing into Ms. Marvel, the pair fought. Ms. marvel finished the fight by enlarging her hands and hitting harder than she ever had, which left Kaboom unconscious and severely injured.
Reason for Casting: Kiernan is such a rising star and one of the most gifted young actresses working today. Similarly to Kamala's other villains I would give the role of Kaboom a much wider appeal and necessity to the plot, having Kamala attempt to uncover her identity. This plotline would create some more grounded episodes that wouldn't necessarily be seen as "filler".
Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spiderman (Already Cast)
Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider as a teenager, granting him spider-like powers. After the death of his Uncle Ben, which he could have prevented, Peter learned that "with great power, comes great responsibility." Swearing to always protect the innocent from harm, Peter Parker became the Amazing Spider-Man!
Reasons: Tom is already Spiderman and we're desperately waiting for him in Civil War and eventually his own solo film. As bad as I want him to be strictly a Netflix character it wouldn't make good business sense so I figured since Spidey and Kamala meet up in the comics this would be a good consolation prize.
People, that is all for today but I have another fancast in the works. Thank you for reading. Random gif time as always.
