Grab your boots, your instruments, and your amps because Spider-Punk is back! After stealing the show in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Hobie Brown will headline an all-new limited comic book series arriving next month in Spider-Punk: Arms Race.
The series will reunite writer Cody Ziglar and artist Justin Mason with the character following their critically acclaimed Spider-Punk series in 2022. This new era promises to be an even bigger riot as this anarchy-driven corner of the Spider-Verse is fully unleashed.
Spider-Punk and his hardcore Spider-Band will take on Earth-138 versions of iconic Marvel villains and rock alongside Earth-138 versions of familiar heroes including an all-new Black Panther.
Here's the official description for Spider-Punk: Arms Race:
With an ax in hand and a chaotic band of punk rockin’ heroes backing him, he quickly rose to fame as a fan-favourite! Now, Hobie Brown returns, and in a world without Norman Osborn, Spider-Punk Reigns!
This ain't no victory lap though – as Hobie and team try to rebuild society, Justin Hammer and Doctor Otto Octavius have other plans... like introducing the world to new Spider-Slaying Sentinels! Get your first taste of the action in the all-new Spider-Punk: Arms Race #1 comic book trailer, featuring never-before-seen artwork!
Talking about writing the series, Ziglar says, "It feels so friggin' cool to dive back into Earth-138 with Justin and explore the world of Hobie and the Spider-band even more! There's some new additions to the Spider-Punk roster, some real dope villains, and some other cool stuff I don't wanna spoil...but absolutely cannot wait for folks! And yes, there'll 100% be a Spider-Punk Playlist Vol 2!"
Hailing from Earth-138, where he fights against the oppressive regime of President Osborn, Spider-Punk sports a punk rock-inspired costume and wields a guitar that doubles as a weapon. Embodying rebellion and counterculture, Hobie Brown has the usual spider-like abilities, including wall-crawling and super strength.
Introduced in The Amazing Spider-Man #10 in 2014, Spider-Punk became a fan-favourite due to his unique design and the thematic exploration of resistance against authoritarian rule. As noted, he made his big screen debut in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse where he was played by Daniel Kaluuya. There have been spin-off talks but we know the rockin' web-slinger will be back in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.
