1 Captain America: The Winter Soldier (23) defeated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II (0)
And that's what you'd expect from one of the favourites against a film from a long time ago. A 23-0 thrashing, and I don't think anyone is arguing.
2 Ghost World (9) defeated Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (8)
This was a thriller, as the cult classic Ghost World pipped last year's most controversial film by 1 vote.
3 The Crow (8) lost to Men In Black (13)
I expected this to go the other way, as comedic Men In Black took down cult classic The Crow by 5 votes.
4 Deadpool (16) defeated Persepolis (4)
Persepolis is a great film, but perhaps hasn't been seen by that many people, though this is a well deserved victory to Deadpool.
5 American Splendor (8) tied with X-Men: The Last Stand (8)
American Splendor JUST survied, and in the event of a tie, we go to Rotten Tomatoes scores, which American Splendor won easily. Again, not many people have seen American Splendor, and it counted against it, but the X-Men's worst received group film almost came through!
6 Captain America: Civil War (22) defeated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (0)
Again, no surprise here, 22-0 to Civil War, while the sequel of reboot was never going to challenge.
7 Spider-Man (19) defeated The Mask (4)
Again no surprises here, but The Mask does have its share of fans.
8 Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (12) defeated V for Vendetta (11)
This one is heart breaking for me, as I love V for Vendetta (and like Phantasm also). What a thriller, a 1 vote win to the underrated Phantasm.
9 300 (18) defeated Suicide Squad (5)
Snyder's big break, and probably best received film, took a big victory over last year's Suicide Squad.
10 Kingsman: The Secret Service (14) defeated Sin City (7)
Sin City was a fantastic film, but perhaps hasn't aged that well, and the surprise hit Kingsman is a well deserved 7 point winner
11 The Avengers (21) defeated Ghost in the Shell (1996) (1)
A little known film called The Avengers had a strong victory over Ghost in the Shell
12 Flash Gordon (4) lost to The Wolverine (17)
I don't think Flash Gordon was ever going to do well, and the underrated The Wolverine proved too strong!
13 X-Men: Days of Future Past (13) defeated Batman (1989) (10)
A very tough opening round match, with a 3 point win to X-Men's big crossover against Michael Keaton's first film in the cape and cowl.
14 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014) (1) lost to Blade II (17)
Blade II is well loved, and the turtles have had a tough run.
15 TMNT (3) lost to Doctor Strange (19)
The Sorcerer Supreme reigns supreme, and the turtles go 0-4 in Round 1.
16 Watchmen (13) defeated Hellboy (9)
Another tough opening battle, as two films with strong followings went head to head, in the end is Snyder's controversial Watchmen that took the day.
17 Spider-Man 2 (20) defeated Metropolis (1)
The beautifully animated film Metropolis was no match for our friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man's most well received outing.
18 Superman II (19) defeated X-Men: Apocalypse (1)
The classic Superman film easily accounted for X-Men's disappointing most recent release.
19 Hellboy II: The Golden Army (12) defeated The Dark Knight Rises (10)
This is a little bit of surprise! The Dark Knight Rises went down by 2 points to Hellboy's much loved sequel.
20 Guardians of the Galaxy (23) defeated The Green Hornet (0)
No contest! Sorry Seth Rogen.
21 Superman (15) defeated Ant-Man (8)
The fact that Ant-Man was even in the equation is amazing, but Superman is Superman after all.
22 X-Men: First Class (17) defeated Akira (5)
Another well loved film that perhaps suffered from lack of viewership, but X-Men: First Class is the favourite of many, and Akira never stood a chance.
23 Man of Steel (12) defeated Oldboy (11)
Now that was close! I shudder to think what would have happened if no DCEU films made it through to the 2nd round, as Man of Steel wins by 1 point.
24 Wanted (8) lost to The Amazing Spider-Man (14)
I think people struggled with this one, but The Amazing Spider-Man took it out comfortably.
25 Big Hero 6 (10) lost to Blade (11)
Another thriller! As one of the few Oscar winning Comic Book films fell to the film that some say started off the moden CBM renaissance by 1 point.
26 Batman Begins (22) defeated Barbarella (0)
Yeah, that's not surprising.
27 X2 (20) defeated Oblivion (0)
The X-Men have had a mixed bag this week, but this was never in doubt.
28 Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (8) lost to Iron Man (15)
Poor Scott :( I loved this film, and no matter how these things are seeded, you're always going to get tough choices like this. But Iron Man, that started the MCU, was never going to lose this one.
29 The Dark Knight (19) defeated Dredd (4)
Dredd has a lot of followers, and it ran into The Dark Knight in the first round, unlucky. But The Dark Knight is the film that we need!
30 The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn (1) lost to Captain America: The First Avenger (21)
No real surprises here, as Tintin wasn't the best received film, but still a big margin to The First Avenger as Cap goes 3/3 in round 1.
31 Cowboys & Aliens (0) lost to X-Men (20)
X-Men, along with Blade and Spider-Man, started the modern Comic Book Movies franchise. Cowboys & Aliens, despite being Jon Favreu directed, was kinda boring. No surprise here.
32 Kick-Ass (16) defeated Batman Returns (7)
Matthew Vaughan had a good round, going 3/3 in this round, as this quirky film defeated one of the most succesful films of all CBMs.
