THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MEN Comic Book Trailer Offers A First Look At Peter Parker And Miles Morales' Team-Up

Marvel Comics has released the first trailer for this March's The Spectacular Spider-Men series, offering a sneak peek at what's to come when Peter Parker and Miles Morales finally team up month-to-month.

This March, Peter Parker and Miles Morales will finally join forces as true partners, teaming up for missions that require a double dose of web-head. It’s a duo better than dynamic, amazing, sensational, and even superior...simply put, they're spectacular.

Written by Greg Weisman and illustrated by longtime Amazing Spider-Man artist Humberto Ramos, Spectacular Spider-Men will mark Peter and Miles' first-ever ongoing team-up series. Weisman, known for writing the beloved Spectacular Spider-Man animated series and for his work on Gargoyles, returns with all the web-slinging drama and adventure that made the former such a beloved fan favourite.

We'll experience Peter and Miles forming a new bond, as the two heroes meet weekly to swap intelligence and tips both in and out of costume. Learning from each other's differences in age and experience, Peter and Miles' compatibility is quickly put to the test in an epic confrontation with the Jackal. What was intended as a personal mentorship spirals into a superhero epic as the two dive deeper into that classic villain's mysterious scheme.

Today, we get a first look at Peter and Miles' new dynamic and their explosive run-in with the Jackal in the first Spectacular Spider-Men trailer, featuring never-before-seen artwork.

"I'm so thrilled to be writing Spidey again, and the fact that I get to write both Spideys, together, makes the gig doubly sweet," Weisman says. "It's fun for me, because in this book, I see the younger Miles trying really hard to show his maturity to his mentor Peter, while the older Pete feels free to let out his inner 16-year-old with Miles. So there's a bit of role reversal to the normal mentor-protege relationship than one might expect to see."

"But I think both Pete and Miles still feel very true to character. And when things get serious, so do our boys (quippage notwithstanding.) What we're seeing here is the evolution from mentor and protegee to them simply being good friends," he continues. "And that change of status (in process, as it is) really interests me as a writer. Oh, and Humberto's art is so damn gorgeous."

We're honestly shocked it's taken Marvel Comics this long to pair these two wall-crawling wonders up permanently, particularly after the success Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse found back in 2018 (and Insomniac's Spider-Man video games, for that matter).

With Weisman and Ramos on this new series, though, it's apparent the title is being treated seriously. Plus, with The Jackal thrown into the mix, we'd be shocked if clones don't eventually come into play! In case you missed it, you can also check out the cover for The Spectacular Spider-Men #1 below.

I'll be honest, i stopped following Miles' story once they brought him over from the ultimate universe...

Can anyone speak to if it's still worth following? Thinking to get back into some books this year.

@UniqNo - honestly I think miles just works better as a different universe spiderman. It's basically miles comes to the 616 universe with his cast and history, but 616 Peter is the main spiderman? Despite ultimate Peter dying being so important to miles?

And of course it leads to two different characters being named spiderman at the same time. Which I never understood. At least call miles something like "ultimate spiderman" or "Brooklyn spiderman".

@Origame - Yeah, i think having him as the spider-man of the ultimate universe worked better where he was inspired by the Peter who sacrificed himself etc.

I'm fine with the cross over like they did some years back when they were still seperate but having 2 with the same name in the 616 still doesn't sit right. I mean i get what they're trying to do, but if they exist at the same time and Miles hasn't taken over the role, then give him another name to make for himself rather than be second known to the original. Does that make sense? I like the character though, but not sure i want to invest anytime to it yet.

@UniqNo - yeah. You can't have miles from the ultimate universe as spiderman when there's the original running around. Maybe keep him kid arachnid or something like that while setting up he's becoming the next spiderman when Peter can't do it anymore?

@Origame - Agreed. Maybe not on the 'Kid Arachnid' name lol, but we've had some really cool names like Araña, Silk, Scarlet Spider, Spider-Woman, Madame Web, even those cartoon ones like Ghost Spider and Spin. There's enough out there to make something original.

I'd go for something that can stay the same even when he's no longer a kid...Something with Stealth or Stinger in it, related to his differing powers.

@Origame - But wouldn't Peter be the Ultimate Spider-Man as he is the original.

Miles Morales is just Miles,I would say all the other versions of Spider-Man aren't called just Spider-Man unless they're Peter.
So Miles needs a name change.

...why is this being made into such a big deal? They've been teaming up since 2015. Hell, even before that. We even have it in the games now.

Miles as the only Spidey in the Ultimate Universe made total sense and was a great story.

The marketing department thought they could increase sales (for a minute) by blowing up the Ultimate Universe but Miles was a great gimmick they couldn't kill off for obvious reasons.

So they watered him down and brought him to 616. Along with the 1135 other Spider-Gimmicks like Spider-Gwen and Silk and WTFever else they're shitting out with webs on it over there.

I'll check it out but it's NOT a new idea by any stretch.

@Batmangina - 616 is a [frick]ing disgraceful mess that should have been rebooted a long long time ago.

@ObserverIO - I don't even know what the [frick] is going on in the 616 anymore.

The X books have been such a cluster[frick] over the last 20 years it's unbelievable.

If Miles is the Spider-Man of Brooklyn only, does that make Peter the Spider-Man of Queens? What's going in here? Peter telling Miles to stay in his lane. Cut him out a piece of his turf?

I was Miles, I would penetrate that fool. With bullets. Spider-bullets.

Disclaimer: With bullets, not with my dick. Spider bullets. Not with my creepy spider-dick.

Anyway *ahem* I might buy this.
