THOR #15 Cover By Olivier Coipel Pits The God Of Thunder Against Captain America In An Epic Battle

This July, Marvel Comics will kick off a new arc in Donny Cates' Thor run titled "Revelations." Artist Michele Bandini (King in Black: Spider-Man) will be filling in for regular series artist Nic Klein, and as you can see below, issue #15 boasts a cover from legendary Thor artist Olivier Coipel and colorist Matt Wilson.

Following the events of "Prey," the wounds of Donald Blake have not yet healed, and new Hel is afoot! With all inhabitants back in Asgard, and Odin’s presence returned after being away so long, an air of tension now sits upon the throne! Father and son. All-Father and All-Father. Odin and Thor. Is this relationship forever doomed, and what does it mean for the Ten Realms?

That all sounds great, but the biggest talking point here is the fact that the God of Thunder is squaring off with his fellow Avenger, Captain America. We're not sure what leads to this clash, but it should be a blast to find out how Steve Rogers fares when he takes on Thor in battle.

Let's just hope the shield can withstand the might of Mjolnir, eh?

Check out Coipel’s cover below as well as a variant cover by Nic Klein, and don’t miss the start of this Midgard-shaking new arc when Thor #15 arrives in comic book stores on July 14th!

So rare these days that the comics deliver 100% and I gotta say its such a relief to say Thor still holds a strong title.

Loved his last few runs, and this could be intense in the wake of what just happened. Cap and Thor have always held such a respect for each other and of the trinity their the two who really see eye to eye, so this will be interesting.

God I love Coipel.

I’ve been into Cates’ run, but after like 8 years of Aaron’s run basically being about Thor coming to an understanding with his dad this feels a bit regressive.

I know for fact this isn’t first time they taught each other I don’t remember what issues

It's a cover. It doesn't necessarily mean they will fight.

Thor wins this fight every single time. I don’t care how good of a tactician Rogers is, Odinson beats him every time. Cap canNOT withstand Thor.

@WruceBayne - agreed. There are only a few ways this fight works. Cap is enhanced and Thor holds back, Cap is brainwashed and Thor holds back. Cap does because Thor doesn't hold back.

Aren't comic book covers notorious for being misleading? I haven't caught up to this run, so I'm more than likely missing something and they really are about to throw hands.

@RitoRevolto -

Yes they are.

Thor just finished their Donald Blake arc. So if you wanted to jump in the next issue to see what this about it shouldn't be too confusing.

@TheBlueMorpho - Good to know! But I think I'm gonna at least finish my read through Thor: The God of Thunder. Jury's still out on War of the Realms.

@RitoRevolto -

War of the Realms was ok. Nothing special. I enjoyed the tie-ins more than the main story.

War of the Realms: Punisher
War of the Realms: Strikeforce: Land of the Giants

Also Punisher: Kill Krew is good which is a 5-issue continuation of his War of the Realms tie-in. He teams up Juggernaut, Black Knight and Foggy Nelson to go after some Frost Giants.

I’ve just got a Marvel Unlimited subscription again after being away for two years. Can anyone recommend where to start on Thor? I’ve been interested in starting with Aaron’s run but don’t know where to begin.

@TheManWithoutFear - he's fantastic too. Coipels style is so fluid and always feels alive, I dont know how he's achieved it but I try to in my own artwork
