The Merc with the Mouth returns to the big screen this July in Deadpool & Wolverine and is set to take centre stage in several new comic book series.
It's a good time to be a Wade Wilson fan and, to celebrate the movie's upcoming release, Marvel Comics has unveiled 20 awesome new "Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe" variant covers.
Paying tribute to one of the most popular Deadpool comic series of all time, these covers depict Wade slicing, dicing, and unleashing his special brand of mayhem on his fellow Marvel characters. Drawn by some of the industry’s top artists, each cover spotlights the insanity and lethality of the anti-hero and will adorn all of Marvel's hottest issues throughout July.
When the news broke that Deadpool 3 would take place in the MCU, many fans hoped it would see the character taking out The Avengers in an adaptation of the Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe comic book series.
It would have been a fun premise, that's for sure, but enlisting all those actors just to die...well, it would be a mighty expensive endeavour. As things stand, we're still expecting Deadpool and Wolverine to take out plenty of familiar Variants during their team-up.
"I hope it doesn’t sound condescending, I'm really proud of them for doing this. I think it’s a huge step for them," Ryan Reynolds recently said of the threequel's R-Rating. "I mean, it adds a whole other color to this kaleidoscopic wheel that is that company and the different people that they have been entertaining forever."
"I was surprised though, that they let us go as hard R, but very grateful. I mean there’s no other way to do it...[it] really [allowed] us to do anything and everything in a world where anything and everything is possible."
