The Merc with the Mouth returns to the big screen this July in Deadpool & Wolverine and is set to take centre stage in several new comic book series.

It's a good time to be a Wade Wilson fan and, to celebrate the movie's upcoming release, Marvel Comics has unveiled 20 awesome new "Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe" variant covers.

Paying tribute to one of the most popular Deadpool comic series of all time, these covers depict Wade slicing, dicing, and unleashing his special brand of mayhem on his fellow Marvel characters. Drawn by some of the industry’s top artists, each cover spotlights the insanity and lethality of the anti-hero and will adorn all of Marvel's hottest issues throughout July.

When the news broke that Deadpool 3 would take place in the MCU, many fans hoped it would see the character taking out The Avengers in an adaptation of the Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe comic book series.

It would have been a fun premise, that's for sure, but enlisting all those actors just to die...well, it would be a mighty expensive endeavour. As things stand, we're still expecting Deadpool and Wolverine to take out plenty of familiar Variants during their team-up.

"I hope it doesn’t sound condescending, I'm really proud of them for doing this. I think it’s a huge step for them," Ryan Reynolds recently said of the threequel's R-Rating. "I mean, it adds a whole other color to this kaleidoscopic wheel that is that company and the different people that they have been entertaining forever."

"I was surprised though, that they let us go as hard R, but very grateful. I mean there’s no other way to do it...[it] really [allowed] us to do anything and everything in a world where anything and everything is possible."

Why no killing Ms.Marvel or Ironheart covers? I guess they are too popular.

Killing Miles Morales should be more brutal.

comicfan100 - 5/20/2024, 3:08 PM
@marvel72 - I don't think they're going to show children being brutally murdered.

Mrnorth1921 - 5/20/2024, 3:10 PM
@marvel72 - he isn’t going to kill kids. As you noticed,
When he “Kills” someone, if it’s an older more serious character. He butchers them. Less serious. It’s implied that he kills them. And with kids, he doesn’t kill them. It’d be the same for Ms. Marvel.

@Mrnorth1921 - Well if you call it Deadpool Kills The Marvel Universe everyone must go.
Vigor
Vigor - 5/20/2024, 3:34 PM
@marvel72 - you're trying to say it's because they're minorities. Just come out and say it instead of being evasive and cryptic
comicfan100
comicfan100 - 5/20/2024, 3:53 PM
@Vigor - Something about wanting to specifically see children of color brutally killed is deeply unsettling. Crickets for Spider-Boy, though.
Origame
Origame - 5/20/2024, 4:03 PM
@comicfan100 - ...well when those children of color are also the only ones not being brutally killed...
marvel72
marvel72 - 5/20/2024, 4:21 PM
@Vigor - No because they suck big difference.
marvel72
marvel72 - 5/20/2024, 4:24 PM
@comicfan100 - I didn't even notice Spider-Boy, haven't read anything with him in, does he suck? Oh f*ck it kill him as well.

Along with everyone else as it's called Deadpool Kills The Marvel Universe.
Vigor
Vigor - 5/20/2024, 4:26 PM
@marvel72 - marvel has literally 1000s of characters. But you pick on the ones who are minorities amd young.

You're not fooling anyone buddy 🙃
marvel72
marvel72 - 5/20/2024, 4:28 PM
@Vigor - Also they ain't really dying or being killed, no children are really being harmed.
marvel72
marvel72 - 5/20/2024, 4:29 PM
@Vigor - Well I guess they are the ones that spring to mind when I think shitty characters.

Am I wrong that these characters are shit?

Makiveli21 - 5/20/2024, 4:42 PM
@marvel72 - saw this and had to chime in, Spiderboy is way better than Miles or Spidergwen. His name is Bailey Briggs and his dna was spliced with a spiders. One of his powers is that he can turn into a spider monster and he bites people. He was trained by Daredevil because his spider senses are similar to how Daredevils senses are heightened.
marvel72
marvel72 - 5/20/2024, 4:48 PM
@Vigor - What about all the white characters being killed and all the minorities getting a free pass?
marvel72
marvel72 - 5/20/2024, 4:51 PM
@Makiveli21 - That sounds like a pretty cool take, shouldn't Spider-Man help him out, what with him dealing with characters like Lizard, Morbius and Man-Wolf.

All characters that change into something else.
comicfan100
comicfan100 - 5/20/2024, 4:57 PM
@Origame - Because Deadpool doesn't kill kids. His whole arc from Deadpool 2 was based on a story from the comics involving that very thing.

@marvel72 - Proof that Deadpool kills kids, he kills Miles Morales in above video.

The writer of the book isn't called racist though, funny that.
Mrnorth1921
Mrnorth1921 - 5/20/2024, 5:30 PM
@marvel72 - he kills them, but in funny ways. The kids don’t seem to die.
FrankenDad
FrankenDad - 5/20/2024, 5:44 PM
@marvel72 - Spider-Man has been helping Bailey Briggs/Spider Boy off and on as of late. Bailey was erased from the web of life so he’s been trying to convince heroes that he once knew them and fought with them. It’s been pretty interesting. And he’s young. 10-12 age range but I think 10.
Origame
Origame - 5/20/2024, 5:45 PM
@comicfan100 - ...you don't know deadpool kills the marvel universe, do you? In the last version he literally killed miles. And in the original storyline he killed Tom sawyer.

@marvel72 - Your obsession with the mere existence of brown women never ceases to amaze.

Duggan was the last writer who knew how to write a good Deadpool comic, once he wrapped his run i just never enjoyed another DP story, blows my mind how wack and sauceless Duggan's Krakoan X-Men were tho.

He was overshadowed by Hickman first and then got quickly overshadowed by Gillen, Al Ewing and even Spurrier once they took over...
JFerguson
JFerguson - 5/20/2024, 3:15 PM
The spider mobile one is hilarious. Also spider sense is clearly going to kick in. DP didn’t think that one through
Vigor
Vigor - 5/20/2024, 3:35 PM
@JFerguson - that one reminds me of wile e coyote and the road runner
Origame
Origame - 5/20/2024, 4:09 PM
@JFerguson - I mean, technically he needs to believe he's genuinely in danger for his spidersense to work.

Granted, he should be super suspicious in this scenario if it's just randomly a sign for free food. That's like classic trap.
JFerguson
JFerguson - 5/20/2024, 5:42 PM
@Vigor @Origame - good points fellas. I'd imagine spidey is just toying around road runner style and plans to web up the food to go.
CharlesLeeRay
CharlesLeeRay - 5/20/2024, 3:20 PM
Is this even canon? 'Cause Deadpool would'nt be able to kill half of the characters from those covers.
TheSuperMex
TheSuperMex - 5/20/2024, 3:35 PM
They should turn this concept to a video game.
comicfan100
comicfan100 - 5/20/2024, 3:58 PM
@TheSuperMex - Like Suicide Squad Kills the Justice League, but better?
