The next era of Spider-Man storytelling will kick off next March in the pages of Web of Spider-Man #1

This first-of-its-kind, giant-sized one-shot will invite hardcore Spidey fans and new readers alike into the world of Spider-Man comics with special stories that lay out all that's to come for Marvel's web-swinging icons.

Current and future Spidey scribes and artists team up to kickstart their most impactful storylines, spotlight the villains and Spider-heroes who everyone will be talking about, and introduce the threads that will shake up the Spider-Verse throughout 2024.

Packed to the brim with exciting entry points into the current runs of Amazing Spider-Man, Miles Morales: Spider-Man, and Spectacular Spider-Men, we now have the first official details about what's heading our way in this issue:

  • Zeb Wells spins two tales of future amazingness, one for each of his colossal collaborators! Zeb and Ed McGuinness tell a tale of two Goblins. Meanwhile, Zeb and John Romita Jr. show the effects of Gang War and set up their next titanic tale.
  • Greg Weisman lays the groundwork for the second arc of Spectacular Spider-Men.
  • Steve Foxe and Greg Land catch up with Chasm and Kaine! Both clones who bore the moniker of The Scarlet-Spider will be back with a vengeance next year but will they be allies or enemies?! And you will not guess who is lurking in the shadows. Truly. You will not guess.
  • The new Edge of Spider-Verse volume sets up the Spider-Society! Get your first taste of that series here from series writer Alex Segura and the legendary Salvador Larocca.
  • And more!

2024 is primed to be one of the biggest years in Spider-History and, based on what we're hearing, it sounds like this is only the tip of the iceberg.

Web of Spider-Man #1 promises to lay out some of the biggest upcoming Spider-Stories and characters in the Spider-Verse through the beginning of 2025, and with Amazing Spider-Man #1000 not that far away at this point, we're intrigued to see what's on the way for both Peter and Miles.

Greg Capullo, who recently made the leap to Marvel Comics from DC has provided a cover for Web of Spider-Man #1, and you can take a closer look at that below.

And they are putting Paul in MJ's spin off comic! They sure know how their readers love that character

"Peter Parker and Miles Morales are two of the Marvel Universe's most popular superheroes."

Not true. Peter Parker is. Morales is B list. Miles will always be known as the black Spidey they put in the comics as an appeasement instead of coming up with another great new black character.

Black Panther, Storm, Falcon, Bishop, War Machine, Killmonger, etc. It could have been done.

@DocSpock - Miles Morales shouldn't even be called Spider-Man, give him a new name.

Even the clone of Peter Parker goes by the name Scarlet Spider.

Spider-Gwen isn't Spider-Woman.

What's wrong with miles now?🤔

@AmazingFILMporg -

I didn't say anything was wrong with him. I simply said he is not one of Marvel's most popular characters.

Pander Josh always equates his popularity to Peter Parker. This just is not so.

He has one of the highest grossing films this year. He is hot right now💁

@DocSpock -

Falcon: Captain America's side kick/
Black Captain America.

War Machine: Black Iron-Man.

Killmonger: Magneto ideologies against enemies who remain in power [Baruch 3:8 kjv].

John Henry Irons: Black Superman.

John Stewart: Black Green Lantern.

Blade: Black Van Helsing.

Black Panther: go-to for "here's your Black guy". Mostly Black Batman/ Moon Knight.

Into the SpiderVerse: 384 Million worldwide.

Spider-Man NWH: 1.916 BILLION worldwide.

It's not even close.

It is clear the animated superhero movies appeal to a lot of people. Kids, some younger adults, & many comic book fans love them. Most of the general movie going public and adults over 35 don't care about them.

I am glad they make people happy though. Good entertainment is always a welcome thing.

Peter Parker = THE most popular Marvel character. Miles = Maybe the 48th most popular character.

While these things are mostly true, what is your point?
KennKathleen

@DocSpock - most of these are not original characters.

@KennKathleen -

I have been reading comics since the mid 60s & remember when each of these were introduced and most of the reasons for their introduction.

I know some are sidekicks. But they are what the movie people have available to deal with today's Hollywood.

@DocSpock - Exactly. Which reveals a greater problem.

Accuracy = continuation of demographic domination.

Inaccuracy = woke/ forced diversity for ☑ purposes.

Conclusion: lose/ lose.

We need new ideas from a new source. I want an only fans chick that hunts serial killers.

I want a drill rapper to turn into a political powerhouse who must seesaw morals against merchandising, after being gifted with special abilities to change to world.

I want a modern day characters that get teens talking about philosophical ideologies based on today's climate.

But we'll likely end up with a lesbian storm who marries shuri.

F*ck Feige, Kennedy, and the agenda with hollow storytelling and Frontline advertising.

It's time for __________ . 🤔

I agree with most of that. If they DEI the FF & X-Men into the toilet, everything will be over.

@KennKathleen - actually that OF serial killer story sounds kinda cool. Like a hack/slash thing. The rest though nah.

@JollyR - the lack of editing option is terrible.

I like the idea of the evolution of an entertainer.

Hip hop is filled with relatable struggles in the early projects. IF the artist becomes successful, they lose the component that fuels their craft: the struggle.

This leads them into diluted, often stereotypical entertainment, which makes the original consumer/fan again search for those more closely related to their woes.

Rinse. Repeat.

What happens if the artist' path is interrupted from this, right at the apex of their career?

Do they improve the conditions of the struggle?

Or

Do they feed the machine that pulled them out of the financial woes?

I think it'd make an interesting story.

*Imagine an antagonist who appears to be 50 cent, but is actually a clone of Curtis Jacson, fused with the spirit/mind of a Walt Disney- like figure.

The real Curtis Jackson has been in a hyperbolic chamber since his shooting.

His great-grandson comes from the future to mentor said drill rapper to help expose this abomination. He also seeks to find and reanimate the true Queens native.

The thought interests me.

Here's one more for 💩 & 🤭.

Punisher: Cop Killer.

Frank Castle returns to the MCU, on the hunt for the true criminals of the Country: corrupt government officials. He may interrogate street level criminals- but he no longer kills them. He is looking to end the threat at the root... 🪙🪙

It hurts to see this watered down Capullo art.

1.Looks like his stuff 25 years ago.

2. Makes you long for McFarlane.

Don't trust Zeb Wells, he shouldn't even be writing anything.

And LOL at the butthurt racists here about Miles, it's called building a legacy.

To anybody who feels Miles is “woke” what would you call Dick Grayson when he was Batman? Miles was in his own universe before Loeb destroyed the ultimate universe. I liked the idea of miles taking over for Peter in an alternate universe. See how he measures up to spiderman and how he deals with the villians
