But what’s most important is the relationship between her and Jessica, and how these two women who are, in some ways, sisters, in terms of their friendship, could be that different, and yet believe in the same kinds of things. That question of, what is it to be a hero and the responsibilities that you have when you have abilities, is something that brings them together, but also continually pushes them apart.

This is a quote from the head of Marvel Studio’s TV Division while discussing Jessica Jones and Trish Walker’s relationship on the show. In the comics, the role of best friend is filled by Carol Danvers aka Ms Marvel (she wasn’t Captain yet). In the comics, Trish ‘Patsy’ Walker started off in romance books before eventually becoming Hellcat.
In the comics Hellcat’s powers varied. First she had a special suit she got from the hero The Cat. She later got psychic powers on Titan from Moondragon, teamed up with Doctor Strange, joined the Defenders and lost the powers. She ended up marrying the son of Satan and going insane driven to suicide by the demon inside her husband.
She essentially becomes the Rhonda Rousey of some sort of Psychic/Soul Fight Club of Hell and using the powers she has honed tricks Hawkeye into resurrecting her. She comes back with some psychic powers and essentially dresses like a cat and fights occult threats.
So... comics are weird, what does this have to do with Jessica Jones? Based on the quote above, it would seem Trish will be operating as some sort of hero and will have powers. I doubt strongly they will go full blown Trish as post-Hell Buffy with magic powers. BUT, they could make her a minor psychic/telepath. That would also fill the hole left by the character of Jean Gray. In the comics, Jean helps Jessica develop psychic safe guards to prevent mind control.
It would fit well within the MCU, provide a 2nd female hero to the show AND it can easily fit within the continuity. Hell, a great easter egg would be a reference from Trish about purposefully failing a test by SHIELD to determine if she is psychic, because she knew she’d be at risk if they knew.

It most importantly would provide the contrast of Jessica, whose life is pretty much in shambles and Trish the successful, put together one who makes the whole super hero by night cool girl by day thing work. Not to mention, she could bring some support to The Defenders since she is one of the only characters in the MCU's Hell's Kitchen who have actually been defenders in the comics.

We will find out this fall when Jessica Jones finally drops at some point in the next 125 days.
