X-MEN: Marvel Comics Reveals New Variant Covers Teasing Iron Man's Upcoming Wedding To Emma Frost

In what has to be one of the Marvel Universe's most unexpected romances, Tony Stark and Emma Frost will tie the knot later this year. Now, a new variant cover page homage to Amazing Spider-Man Annual #21.

Next month's X-Men #26 and Invincible Iron Man #10 will feature the long-awaited wedding between Emma Frost and Tony Stark. Gerry Duggan, who writes both titles, will deliver a moment we never thought would happen, alongside series artists Stefano Caselli (X-Men) and Juan Frigeri (Invincible Iron Man).

Teased for years, this highly-anticipated story will tie directly into Fall of X, the dark new era of storytelling which officially kicked off in last week's X-Men: Hellfire Gala #1.

Krakoa has fallen and, for the first time in ages, the X-Men have their backs against the wall. Fall of X calls for bold new alliances and as Emma Frost and Tony Stark's Hellfire Club partnership strengthens so will their romantic feelings. In X-Men #26, the X-Men are taken aback by Tony's shocking proposal as well as Emma's answer of "Yes!"

Then, we're cordially invited to the wedding of Anthony Edward Stark and Emma Grace Frost in the pages of Invincible Iron Man #10. A romance between the two was first teased way back in 2006's Civil War, but it's fair to say we never saw this coming.

Now, in honour of the occasion, artist Meghan Hetrick has dreamed up two stunning variant covers for Invincible Iron Man #10. A homage to Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson’s iconic wedding in Amazing Spider-Man Annual #21, the variant will be available in two formats, one depicting the characters in superhero attire and another featuring them in fashionable formalwear.

"Neither seems like the marrying type. Why this works, and how this works, and how much fun this is whether their marriage works or not will need to be seen to be believed and you'll have to buy it to find out," Duggan previously said. "They certainly don't seem like they're ready to be married to anyone, let alone to each other, but life can change quickly."

We're intrigued to see where this is leading and can't help but think there might be more to this story than meets the eye. Whatever the case may be, the Marvel Universe just got an exciting new power couple!

Also, the art on these covers is not great. And Cap's shield is tiny. It looks like he got it out of a Cracker Jack box.

This feels as forced as the Storm and T'Challa wedding...

Ok, this can't be legit. Jean Grey's dead, and Scott's a cripple.

I wouldn't put it past Emma to mind-control Stark to make all this happen.
