With 2022 marking the 60th anniversary of Spider-Man, Marvel Comics is set to relaunch the wall-crawler's flagship title with a new #1 issue this April. Writer Zeb Wells is taking charge of Amazing Spider-Man, while legendary artist John Romita Jr. will be joining him for what's shaping up to an exciting fresh start (that we're assuming will lead to the historic issue #900 later this year).
Now, Marvel Comics has revealed some variant covers for the relaunch with artwork by Peach Momoko, InHyuk Lee, Stanley "Artgerm" Lau, Travis Charest, Humberto Ramos, and a Hidden Gem cover by Mark Bagley and John Romita Sr. Apparently, we can expect many more to follow in the coming weeks, including sure to be spectacular efforts by Russell Dauterman and Patrick Gleason.
"Marvel has allowed me to get back to work on this amazing character, and work with another brilliant writer, Zeb Wells," Romita Jr. recently said of his return. "The stories are stunning and I am reading the scripts with a grin and wonderment...then wondering how the heck to do them justice!"
"Well, fortunately, I have a close friend and brilliant artist to help me do that. Scott Hanna and I have worked on this character before and Scott is still a brilliant artist who will continue to be brilliant, lucky for me and anyone who looks at the art," he continued. "Adding to Scott and myself is the third artist, the color artist, Marcio Menyz. It’s difficult to describe how wonderful his work is, so to save space and everyone’s patience, I’ll let it speak for itself! It’s stunning!"
