Marvel Comics recently killed off Stephen Strange in the pages of the aptly titled Death of Doctor Strange series. While we're sure it won't be permanent, the plan now is for Clea to take over as Sorcerer Supreme in the pages of Strange #1. It's a solid premise, but with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness heading to theaters this May, there are plans for that character too.

This April, the publisher will release Doctor Strange: Nexus of Nightmares #1, a one-shot that will journey to the past with a never-before-told saga presenting Doctor Strange at his spellbinding best.

Featuring his two most terrifying villains, Nightmare and Baron Mordo, and showcasing some of Doctor Strange’s greatest feats yet, Doctor Strange: Nexus of Nightmares will provide a perfect entry point into the unique mystical world of Doctor Strange. Expertly crafted by legendary Marvel great Ralph Macchio and rising star artist Ibrahim Mostafa, it also promises to dazzle longtime fans of the iconic character with a fascinating venture into the dream realm.

Nightmare has invaded Doctor Strange’s dreams and turned them into terrible nightmares. These dark feelings now inhabit every fiber of Doctor Strange’s waking life and has left him weak and unable to protect the realm. Now, Baron Mordo and Nightmare are ready to strike. Can Stephen shake Nightmare’s grip over him? Or will the world be lost to Nightmare’s dream realm forever?

We'll find out the answers when this Doctor Strange one-shot is released on April 20.

Why make it in the past, just bring him back. This is why comics are so bland nowadays. It's either a disappointing "event" or they knock off a Character. Only to bring them back.

@bobevanz - I don't think any comics have even caught up to Strange being dead. But that they killed the character off during a year they were releasing a new film seemed very odd.
