Darna, one of Asia's greatest comicbook superheroes, is once again coming back to the big screen. This will be the 15th movie adaptation of Darna with the 1st one shown on 1951, more than six decades ago! The yet untitled film is said to be the most ambitious and will involve the best of the best in the Philippines film industry, according to the lead actress Angel Locsin. She added that the scale of the project will be the grandest in local film history. The film will be produced by Star Cinema, the foremost Filipino film production and distribution company, in partnership with Reality Entertainment, the top revolutionary local film studio. It will be directed by the award-winning, blockbuster film maker Erik Matti. Showbiz insiders say the film is still in its early stages of production and to be released on the later part of 2015.
Angel has already portrayed Darna in a record-breaking TV series on 2005. Now that she will reprise the role in a movie, she said that playing Darna for the 1st time changed her life dramatically, and that doing the movie this time will give her the opportunity to show her gratitude to all the fans.

Darna first appeared on Pilipino Komiks issue 77 on May 13, 1950 and is created by Mars Ravelo. She is a mythical super warrior from another world who manifests herself through a female human being. This human must swallow a magical pearly white stone and shout the name Darna to transform into the super warrior who is as beautiful as she is powerful.
