TOP 5 COMIC BOOK MOVIES 2017(POSSIBLE SPOILERS)

5. Guardians of The Galaxy Vol 2
This movie has been in the minds of a lot of people since the success of the first movie. To think that the guardians are now in pop culture is a spectacle people 10 years ago would never have believed in. Now that we are in 2017 people are asking is Gotg 2 as good or even better than the first movie. I would say it's not as good as the first one but it's still a movie full of joy, laughter, action and even emotion. Your favorite characters are back and they are basically looking for Nebula after the events of the first movie. The movie has a great start as it shows you that you are back in this world. Some characters such as groot as used more for comedy and aren't as impactful as last time. Mantis is a new character that while is enjoyable, could have used more backstory to its character. This move is more about family, the standout characters are such as Drax who while makes jokes he still talks about his family in one of the best scenes in the movie. We also add Star Lord and Ego which as much as Ego isn't a great villain, his emotional scenes with Chris Pratt helped his character. The visuals where just amazing, it was beautiful seeing all these different locations. And finally, Yondu stole the show and gave us a death, I think somebody threw in some onions in my popcorn. Overall just because it is number 5 doesn't mean that it isn't worth a watch on Blu-Ray.

4. Wonder Woman
Now this movie is quite the success as dc has had a rough time with their cinematic universe. Now the director Patty Jenkins came and she created one great superhero movie that brings hope to many including the executives at Warner Bros. Now I already liked Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman in Dawn of Justice as she was the highlight of the movie. This movie has everything including, action, characters people love, fun, laughter, darkness etc. Chris Pine and Gal have incredible chemistry on screen as they journey through the war. The world of the amazons is pretty damn awesome as we see them train and teach Diana to become a warrior. The group Diana and Steve meet has personality that aren't just there to help them along the way. Diana grows as a character from just wishing to believe that killing one man will stop the war. Now the reason it is number 4 is with such factors such as the villains. The human villains which to be honest were not appealing or interesting for me just bored me as I was waiting to come back to see Diana and the gang. Now the big villain comes into the third act that was the one that brought it down. Ares shows up and is basically there to look cool with a mustache just to lose to the hero. The third act went against what the movie was going for, Diana basically kills Ares and the war is over. But other than that, this movie is a good step forward for the dc universe.

3. Thor Ragnarok
Now this movie came to a surprise for me because as much as I was looking forward to it, I didn't think it would be number 3. Now let's get into the negatives before I basically create an article within itself. There are time's where the comedy doesn't work as well as others, one scene looks strange and some story isn't as explored. Again before I talk about the movie I must say that I liked the first Thor movie but was bored by the second. This movie kicked gears and just pumped it up to 100 as this move was a joy from beginning to end. At the start of the movie I did not know what to expect and sure it was a funny start in the chatter but then the action started. This is the thor I've been waiting since I've read the OG Walt Simonson and Kirby comics. The star of the movie shows an epic thor going ape on Surtur's army and then Surtur himself. After the epic fight we meet Skurge and Loki as things have changed in Asgard. Loki is now king but after thor find out he forces him to find Odin. Now the adding scene was an emotional moment as Odin's death leaves the future of Asgard in uncertainty. And here comes Hela that while she didn't have much screen time, uses all of it to give a strong and dark villain. Hela has one of the best battle scenes as breaks asgards army like kit katz. Now Loki in this movie has moved away from being a villain, but still a trickster until we see that he wants to move away from his villainous deeds. But out of nowhere comes Valkyrie, which is a surprise because I can see the actor had a lot of fun playing this character. She almost steals the show but lets other characters have their moments. The hulk was another surprise as he has evolved from a brute to a brute but with more education and ways to express him as himself and Thor gives us another epic fight. They wouldn't bring in a hulk without a banner as Mark Ruffalo uses all the time to give us the best bruce banner we've seen. Bruce is not just smart, but has emotion, is afraid of what he sees after 2 years of being hulk. Bruce and Thor are absolutely amazing together and can't wait to see more in the future. Korg is absolutely great which basically means that Taika absolutely needs to return to the mcu in infinity war along with Miek. Now the real hero in this movie is Heimdall as I feel that he should probably be the centerpiece in the poster because this guy saved the people Well, now that my Thor article is over I can say that this movie is worth an IMAX watch and a buy.

2. Spiderman: Homecoming
I can say that Spiderman is one of the favorite characters and has been a huge impact in my life. The character of Peter Parker is quite bigger for me than the mask as he's basically who I am without the superpowers of course. I was already looking forward to this movie after civil war as I wanted to see what this Peter Parker was about. I can say that Tom Holland and Tobey Maguire are tied for the best interpretation of the character. This movie starts with the villains which can be argued that it's just a man trying to help out his family. Michael Keaton for me is the best MCU villain excluding the Netflix shows as to me he just came into this movie and stole it like a Vulture. Now let's talk about Peter Parker, he is what I've always wanted since reading the comics both 616 and ultimate's. This Peter is young and learning as he is brought into the universe by Tony Stark with a new suit. We see Peter be a high school student, his friendships, how the school operates, teachers etc. The suit while cool brings one of the aspects of the comics I thought would never be achieved. Peter was able to talk and express himself even if nobody was there because there was Karen. Karen is funny and helpful to Peter while letting Peter talk to somebody as Spiderman.  This movie brings both a smart Peter Parker which also makes mistakes with a wisecracking Spiderman. Ned is a good character that while is friends with Peter, able to help him as Peter is out there fighting the criminals. Aunt Bae is a great character that while she may nice person and caring, there are moments when she will yell at Peter when she needs to. Tony Stark does not steal the movie as many thought but helps Peter as he has made mistakes too and it's nice to see Tony to his wisecracking self after Civil War. One of the scenes that elevate this movie to number 2 is the car scene. Michael Keaton just takes Tom Holland for a ride and shows him why he is a great actor and menacing. The second scene is Peter Parker being under the building gaining the strength to lift it which is a moment to show that nobody is there to help him and he has to do it himself. This is the Spiderman I've been waiting for since Spiderman 3 and it delivered, looking forward to what is next in Infinity War.

1. Logan

From one the worst comic book movies of all time to one the best comes a movie that shocked us all and made me cry. This movie came in first and could not be beaten by anyone else as it was and end of an era.  Hugh Jackman came into this movie and acted like his life depended on it, well Logan's life. We start this movie with an old wolverine that already makes me feel emotional as last time we saw this wolverine he was feral and being brutal in xmen apocalypse. Now the R rating adds what we've been waiting for as we see wolverine slashing arms and body parts as It made me smile. Then off we go to see Xavier and this is where I just felt sad as he is old and everyone except for Logan is gone. Patrick Stewart and Hugh are just perfect throughout this whole movie that at the end it just makes it even more impactful. Caliban is also a great character that while he doesn't have much screen time, he uses it effectively. Now we can talk about the villains that were not great but were not horrible as while Pierce and X-24 aren't impactful, they don't take away from the movie. Now we can talk about the one that stole the show which is X-23 and I can say that the young actor probably has a bright future. X-23 is the wolverine the I've wanted for a long time as she is beyond savage, she will kill you in the blink of an eye. She doesn't talk much but when she does it just elevates her as a character that after the movie makes you want to see what is next for her. The two deaths in this movie just elevated this movie towards number one for its emotion. The scene of Charles talking about what happened and what was so emotional and what happens next barely lets you catch a break. The death of Xavier was quite shocking and I just kept thinking it was a dream but when I realize it wasn't it just hit me that Charles is death, Professor X is dead. Then the end of the movie as I hoped that maybe there was a chance that Logan can have a happy ending. But in the end Logan dies and then I just realize that all of them are gone, all the xmen character since the first xmen movie are gone. At the end of the movie I just didn't want to leave even when I knew that there was no credit scene. I just wanted to stay there as long as I could, this movie is just what I wanted and what I never knew I needed.

None of the CBMs this year blew me away. I liked most of them enough.

Logan was my least favourite by a long way. I'm glad you enjoyed it so much. It just wasn't the Wolverine that I know and love. But these characters have been around for so long that they mean different things to different people. That wasn't MY wolverine.

I'm sure there are people who say the same thing about Spidey in Homecoming, for the same reasons. Different strokes for different folks. I have faith that next year Markus, McFeely and the Russo's will give me a CBM that i really love (they haven't failed to do so yet). Optimistic for BP too, that looks great. And of course Ant-Man and the Wasp since i LOVED the first one and i've been waiting to see The Wasp suit up in the MCU forever.

my top 5 from this year:

1. Thor- loved everything about this movie.
2. GOTG 2- I think it holds up very well the 2nd or 3rd time viewing it
3. Logan- my favorite fox movie yet, yes better than DP IMO
4. Wonder woman- only problem I had with this movie was that it didn't come out sooner to give WB guidance on how to do DC characters justice in the movies
5. Spiderman HC- Besides Spiderman 2, this is my favorite Spiderman film yet.

Overall I loved this years movies, I even liked Justice League. Did it have flaws? yes, but it was also an entertaining and fun film
