The first trailer for Warner Bros. and New Line's upcoming adaptation of Ollie Masters and Ming Doyle's 2014 DC Vertigo miniseries
The Kitchen has been released. The film marks the directorial debut of
Straight Outta Compton writer Andrea Berloff.
The Kitchen stars Melissa McCarthy, Tiffany Haddish and Elisabeth Moss as three mob wives in Hell’s Kitchen in the 1970s who take over the city's criminal empire when their husbands are sent down by the FBI.
Though McCarthy and Haddish' involvement might suggest a comedic tone, this big-screen take is described as a "gritty drama," and, a couple of gags aside, the trailer definitely seems to support that.
The Kitchen also stars Domhnall Gleeson, James Badge Dale, Common, Bill Camp and Annabella Sciorra, and is set for release on 20th September.
