An early look at Deadpool 3 recently came our way courtesy of photos that showed Ryan Reynolds suited up on the threequel's set as the Merc with the Mouth. Earlier today, the actor dropped an official look at the movie and, well, it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say it's broken the internet.
23 years after Hugh Jackman's Wolverine mocked the possibility of wearing spandex in X-Men, the actor has finally donned the clawed mutant's iconic blue and yellow suit.
Deadpool 3 marks the MCU debut of both characters, though it's still unclear whether they'll travel to Earth-616. All signs point to the movie being a Multiversal adventure, and the heroes being stranded in the MCU's main reality when all is said and done adds up, particularly with Avengers: The Kang Dynasty on the horizon.
Thanks to this hi-res image (Hugh res?), we see some of the finer details on both costumes, including the iconic "X" logo around Wolverine's waist. Faithful to the comic books but very much in keeping with the MCU aesthetic, it looks terrific. Deadpool also seems to have benefitted from a slightly brighter colour palette.
We're hearing Jackman will don Wolverine's mask in Deadpool 3, and a closer look at the actor's hair and beard quickly debunk theories he's going to play an Old Man Logan-style Wolvie here.
With Jennifer Garner's Elektra confirmed to appear and a number of other original X-Men cast members expected to join her, we can't wait to see how many other comic-accurate costumes this movie finally brings to the big screen. When it comes to Wolverine, however, this is damn-near perfect.

Deadpool 3 is set to be released in theaters on May 3, 2024.
