It seems those rumors that Deadpool 3 is set to take a much deeper dive into the Multiverse that we realized were true!
In a piece of casting news it's safe to say nobody saw coming, THR reports that Jennifer Garner is set to reprise the role of Elektra Natchios for the Marvel Cinematic Universe-set threequel, which is currently filming in London.
The trade doesn't share many more details, but we can't imagine Garner will have anything close to a substantial role - although her involvement may lend credence to a recent rumor that Ben Affleck will appear as Daredevil.
Garner debuted as the lethal assassin in 2003's Daredevil, before returning two years later for a solo Elektra spin-off. The movie was not a box office success (and was panned by critics), but Garner was praised for her performance, and it was notable for being one of the first female-led superhero movies.
Garner joins Ryan Reynolds as the Merc With a Mouth, and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine (don't be surprised if a few more X-Men also show up).
Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), Karan Soni (Dopinder), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), Rob Delaney (Peter), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead) And Shioli Kutsuna (Yukio) will all return as their respective characters, and they'll be joined by franchise newcomers Emma Corrin (The Crown) and Matthew Macfadyen (Succession), whose roles are still under wraps.
Plot details also remain a mystery for now, but Wade and Wolvie are expected to find themselves (trapped?) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A recent rumor claimed that Loki's TVA, including Agent Mobius (Owen Wilson) and Miss Minutes, will be involved. We have also been led to believe that Wade's MCU debut will be far more integral to Phase 5 and beyond than we first realized.
Shawn Levy is directing Deadpool 3, which is set to hit theaters on September 6, 2024.
