DEADPOOL 3 Now Rumored To Feature An Appearance From BLADE, But Which Variant Will We See?

Work on Deadpool 3 won't resume until the SAG-AFTRA strike ends, but that hasn't stopped the rumour mill from churning. The latest claims Blade will appear, but will we see Mahershala Ali or Wesley Snipes?

Even if only half the rumours are true, Deadpool 3 is shaping up to be one of the most star-studded MCU movies ever made. As the Merc with the Mouth and Wolverine traverse the Multiverse, we're expecting to see a host of familiar faces from the past before the unlikely allies end up stranded on Earth-616 in time for the next Avengers movies.

Will Blade be among the many Multiversal cameos we're expecting to see? If scooper Daniel Richtman is to be believed, apparently so!

He admits to not knowing whether it will be Mahershala Ali or Wesley Snipes who show up in the threequel, though we'd say the latter is more likely. The upcoming Blade reboot is seemingly in a state of disarray and with Ali rumoured to have considered walking away from the role, it's doubtful Deadpool 3 will be used to set the stage for the Daywalker's MCU future.

So, that leaves us with Snipes.

It's no secret that the actor wasn't exactly a pleasure to work with on the set of 2004's Blade: Trinity. Based on what we've heard, Ryan Reynolds was left baffled by Snipes' after they shared the screen as Hannibal King and Blade, respectively, though almost two decades have passed since then.

Last year, Reynolds said he had the "utmost respect" for Snipes' method acting, but acknowledged that he "never met Wesley, I only met Blade." Assuming there are no hard feelings there, is the door open to Snipes being given the chance to bid farewell to perhaps his most famous role? We'd say it's likely.

It would be wise to keep expectations in check for now, especially as it feels like many scoopers are just naming anyone and everyone from past Marvel movies simply because it's likely they'll make an appearance. Still, Blade, Deadpool, and potentially Wolverine all sharing the screen at some point is an incredibly exciting prospect.

Alongside Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, Deadpool franchise vets Karan Soni (Dopinder), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), Stefan Kapicic (Colossus), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead), Shioli Kutsuna (Yukio), and Rob Delaney (Peter) are all set to return in this threequel.

Emma Corrin is expected to play Cassandra Nova, while Matthew Macfadyen will likely take on the role of a TVA agent named Paradox. It's also been confirmed that Jennifer Garner will reprise her role as Elektra, with Liev Schreiber, James Marsden, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, singer Taylor Swift (potentially as Dazzler), and even Loki's Owen Wilson expected to appear.

Deadpool 3 is set to be released in theaters on May 3, 2024.

Can we simply assume everyone of every variant will cameo in this movie and then wait for the movie to actually confirm who's in and who's out? Just sayin!

Blade and Blade II were fantastic movies and i enjoyed them... at this point, just assume anyone will be in this movie

@MotherGooseUPus - Yes the first two Blade movies are amazing. They are a bit dated today, but still hold up fairly well as long as you get your mind in that late 90’s early 00’s leather and electronic music aesthetic.

The third one though…

@MotherGooseUPus - Haven't seen the first Blade movie (although, I know basically everything about it through popculture osmosis), but watched Blade 2 for Guillermo del Toro. Maybe I expected more, because of him, but it was kinda just one of the many 2000's action movies and you can kinda tell this wasn't style/tone del Toro would typically want to work with, since he doesn't really do "stoic badass" type of protagonists and his sensibilities for creature designs were clearly getting pulled back by the "rules" set up by the first movie.

I'm quickly developing a negative knee jerk reaction to the term "variant". I don't think I'm going to make it to Secret War.

They should get Ali for the variant blade. And it's the blade from the dropped script where his daughter becomes a werewolf/vampire God.

He comes in looking as bada$$ as he can. Deadpool is geeking out over recruiting him. Then his daughter shows up being like "DAD! WHY ARENT YOU PRAISING ME NOW?"

Then he goes "coming snookums" and he proceeds to act as her footrest.

@bobevanz - You start a rumour, it's easy.

Nic Cage Ghost Rider is going to be in this.

Galactus cloud is going to be in this

Man-Thing is going to be in this.

@bobevanz - The speculation industry is really hurting Hollywood. Personally, I can always temper expectations, but a lot of people take this stuff to heart and have such high expectations. Mephisto in WandaVision. More cameos in Dr Strange 2. More Daredevil in She Hulk.

These people can throw out any speculation they want, they get clicks and views, and are never penalized if they are wrong.

@marvel72 - I want the Fox X-Men in cómic accurate costumes acting bad ass. James Marsden Cyclops in the 90’s suit completely unleashing for example. They are all going to die in this most likely so give them a proper send off.

@mountainman - Yeah it would be nice but I think it'll be just Wolverine in costume.

If they wanted to grab us with excitement, it should be Snipes. If they take the Reed Richards MOM route and get that other guy who like 4 people will recognise, then it will feel just as hallowed and unearned.

if they use Wesley Snipes it would be funny if they have him say something like
"you sound very familiar. is that you Hannibal under the mask?" to Deadpool.

Honestly, I’m not sure if this would turn out to be a good thing either way.

There are so many issues surrounding Snipes, I don’t even know how he would be part of the project: his history with Reynolds (even if it has improve), general onset behavior in the last Blade (only answering to the name Blade, refusing to open his eyes, etc.), criminal history, his past relationship with Halle Berry, who is also rumored to be a part of the project.

And as we all know, the planned reboot has been facing a multitude of issues. The project might get delayed enough that Ali gets frustrated enough to walk away, they could recast him with someone younger if he ages out, or it might just get shelved altogether, leading to this being one of those Foxverse and MCU teases that just go nowhere.

I just don’t see a lot of positives to this.

They should just have Ali show up in post-credits scenes for random MCU movies/shows repeating the same line from "The Eternals" for different characters in increasingly ridiculous settings as a running joke. Like at the end of "The Marvels" Kamala is in a restaurant about to try super-spicy buffalo wings and Blade's in the next booth and says "Are you sure you're ready for that Ms. Kahn?", at the end of "Echo" Maya is waiting in line to see a Chili Peppers (or something) concert and he's standing behind her and says "Are you sure you're ready for that Ms. Lopez?", at the end of "DP3" Wade goes off into his bedroom with a giant-sized stuffed unicorn to jerk off with and Blade's in the room and we hear "Are you sure you're ready for that Mr. Wilson?" and Wade's like "And where have YOU been all my life, big boy?", etc.
