It's finally f***ing happening!
A few days ago, a first look at Ryan Reynolds suited up as the titular Merc with the Mouth in Deadpool 3 was revealed courtesy of set photos taken by the paparazzi. Now, the actor has decided to beat 'em to the punch when it comes to Hugh Jackman's Wolverine by sharing an official still from the highly anticipated threequel!
In that, we see the actor - who first played Wolverine in 2000's X-Men - finally wearing the clawed mutant's iconic yellow and blue costume.
Clearly inspired by John Cassaday's design in the Astonishing X-Men comic book series, this is impossible to find fault with and exactly what fans have spent literally decades waiting to see on the big screen. To those who doubted it would work in live-action...well, they were wrong.
However, if we're going to nitpick, then we're sure you'll have also noticed this suit has sleeves. Typically, Wolverine's arms are put on display but we'd imagine that was something everyone involved decided didn't work as well here as it does on the page.
What we don't get to see is Wolverine's mask, though we're confident Jackman will don it at some point (Marvel Studios will likely keep him unmasked as much as possible based on past experience with characters like Captain America and Spider-Man). This still certainly lends weight to rumours all the X-Men will wear comic-accurate costumes when they appear in Deadpool 3, anyway.
The image isn't currently available in high-resolution as Reynolds shared it as an Instagram Story but you can take a closer look at Jackman suited up as Wolverine below.
Deadpool 3 is set to be released in theaters on May 3, 2024.
