Zazie Beetz Says She Won't Return As Domino For DEADPOOL 3

Despite rumors to the contrary, Deadpool 2 star Zazie Beetz has now revealed that she will not be reprising the role of Domino for the upcoming MCU-set threequel...

Deadpool 3 will bring back several supporting players from the Merc with a Mouth's previous movies, but, unfortunately, it sounds like Domino will not be among them.

Zazie Beetz has previously dropped some hints that she might be set to reprise her role as the perennially lucky mutant, and a rumor did the rounds that she was in talks to return shortly after we learned that Hugh Jackman's Wolverine would be joining Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) for his MCU debut.

However, the Atlanta star has now plainly stated that she won't appear in the threequel.

While speaking to Beetz about her new show, Full Circle, Decider asked the actress for her thoughts on the recent report that Reynolds wouldn't be able to ad-lib any dialogue because of the ongoing WGA strike.

“Well, I’m actually not in Deadpool 3, so I don’t know what they’re doing [about improvisation]. I’m assuming they’re probably taking a pause. […] I’m excited to watch it,” Beetz responded.

If Domino is not involved, it's probably safe to assume that we won't see Josh Brolin's Cable, either.

Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), Karan Soni (Dopinder), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), Rob Delaney (Peter), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead) And Shioli Kutsuna (Yukio) will all return as their respective characters, and they'll be joined by franchise newcomers Emma Corrin (The Crown) and Matthew Macfadyen (Succession), whose roles are still under wraps.

Plot details also remain a mystery for now, but Wade and Wolvie are expected to find themselves (trapped?) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A recent rumor claimed that Loki's TVA, including Agent Mobius (Owen Wilson) and Miss Minutes, will be involved.

We have also been led to believe that Wade's MCU debut will be far more integral to Phase 5 and beyond than we first realized.

Deadpool 3 is set to hit theaters on September 6, 2024.

@videovac - Being likable in the role being a foil/ally for starters genius. I said I liked her in the role, not that she gave an Oscar worthy performance...

No real loss. I didn't love her for the part in the first place. She did a fine job I suppose, but wasn't really memorable. Also, the movie sounds like it is going to be really crowded, so why add her in too?

Disappointed since I actually really liked her in the role. And her powerset, as the DP2 makes fun of, is actually pretty fun and creative. Maybe they just want a lot more screen time for DP and Wolverine, which I'm all for if that's the case.

What the f_ck is everyone saying they liked her for? What did she do "in the role" that was memorable and stood out?

@videovac - She was funny, her being lucky "power" was fun to watch play out on screen.she was in the movie, why is that hard for you to understand why people enjoyed her performance? Plus she's beautiful as well. That's how it works actors appear in movies in different roles some smaller than others, then the people who watch the movie decide if they liked or didn't like those said actors in the roles they acted in. It's a crazy concept but you'll catch on

No reason not to include her. I would like to think she could at least have a good cameo.

Meanwhile Hugh Jackman posted a new photo of him with what is easily going to be his Wolverine look.

Superman & Lois has been renewed for S4 but with just 10 episodes and the budget being cut which means that we could see half of the cast being reduced which TBH sucks major ballz, this sounds awfully familiar to what ABC did to one of their comedy shows being renewed for S5 ("Bob Loves Abishola") in which literally all of the cast except the two leads ended up being let go.

From Deadline: "To make the dual deals possible there will be budget cuts that include reducing the number of series regular cast members. Superman & Lois has 12 series regulars, Deadline hears the leads are not expected to be affected but supporting cast members will likely be. (Speeding up the decision is the fact that cast options are set to expire this week.)

Additionally, the CW is likely to share some library streaming rights to Superman & Lois, which is now available on Max.

Superman & Lois has been on par with All American and Walker. But, with its superhero nature, it also is more expensive due to extensive special effects. In addition to trimming the cast, the series likely would lean more heavily into its core premise as a family drama going forward while still honoring its superhero roots. The size of its order, 10 episodes vs. 13 for the other legacy CW series, also reflects its higher cost."

And Gotham Knights instead was cancelled.

"Gotham Knights has been a respectable ratings performer and, under different circumstances, could’ve made it to a second season but, with the business model of the CW changing under its new ownership, only a handful of highly rated (by CW standards) existing scripted series could make the cut."

It's weird how the show that was less expensive to produce compared to so many others (even non-DC ones like Walker: Independance, The Winchesters, Kung Fu etc) still got the axe. That either says that Nexstar are THAT cheap or they made their decision right after the latest episode ended up with Stephanie Brown coming out of the closet and getting together with Harper Row. And we know Nexstar likes their content to be "wholesome family friendly" otherwise they wouldn't have acquire as well a Jesus TV show since last week for the Fall season.

@NinnesMBC - I never heard of this Jesus show before yesterday when I read about how it's cast is under fire for defending pride stuff around their set.

I stopped watching S & L cause of it's large cast of side characters. I didn't care about their stories like at all. I was there for Superman so spending time on Lana and her family relationships and the others especially Lois coworker/boss bored me immensely.

@WarMonkey - Funny I wasn't aware at all about the Jesus show's cast being under fire for actually defending Pride Month activities. What a funny contradiction. I wonder if Nexstar would stop airing it shortly if word of that got to them.

I see. Well you aren't the only one that found sometimes those subplots off putting, personally I never minded so much because the show also tried to focus on the small town slice of life. S2 was rough on the Cushings and this time it improved, but I can understand if it was too late for you.

WarMonkey - 6/15/2023, 6:30 AM
@NinnesMBC - Ya, season 2 is where I left. I didn't want to watch a Superman show to spend time watching a family I liked break apart. It was mostly about the other characters and Superman started to feel like a guest appearance when he showed up. I really enjoyed the 1st season though and might check out this new season. I liked how they kept the drama down then, but in season 2 it was like all the writers knew how to write was drama for drama sake and not for servicing the story or advancing it. It had the same problem all the other Arrowverse shows ran into, their large casts and advancing side-characters that are good for a few seconds in an episode to basically leads with the majority of screen time. Also I wasn't digging the Super Son story or Steele's daughter and while Lois has been my favorite non-super powered character besides Batman in all of comics I just don't like this actor in the role. She wasn't good on Grimm either and was the biggest complaint fans had about the show which is why they severely reduced her role there.

"she was not well cast or very good in this role." - @DocSpock

I agree with this part, but I have never seen anything she's ever been in that's justified anything she's ever been casted in. I just simply don't get it. She has a funky name, and a completely flat personality.

She checked a box. That was it & very obvious.

videovac
videovac - 6/13/2023, 2:40 AM
I remember when she was cast, I was like: "Why her? She has no personality." She showed no reason prior to the movie why she should have been cast, and showed nothing in the movie to justify her casting. It's a no-name character to begin with, but it's a chance to do something, and she, along with herself, as well as the writers, and people who cast her, did nothing with that character. And I mean Jack shit.

She brought nothing to the table as an actress, and the film makers didn't attempt to portray that character 2ith any personality on paper that would even give her a chance to show any, even the smallest bit of, personality.
