Even before the first teaser trailer, we knew Deadpool and Wolverine was going to feature quite a few cameos (some have been confirmed, others are still rumored), and it sounds like those early reports claiming that other members of the original X-Men team from the 20th Century Fox franchise may have been accurate.
Last year, fake set photos fooled the internet (they were pretty convincing, to be fair) into thinking that Cyclops (James Marsden) would appear in a comic-accurate costume, and the outfit of choice remains to be seen, a new interview with Marsden leads us to believe that the X-Men's fearless leader will show up in some capacity.
While promoting his latest movie, Knox Goes Away, during an interview with The Playlist, Marsden seemingly shared a little more than he intended to when speaking about finishing up on Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
"We just wrapped, actually," Marsden said. “We were actually near the… Deadpool [production] stages up there in Pinewood. Yeah, this is a little… umm …bit of a Pandora’s box.”
Not exactly confirmation, but we'd say there's a very good chance Scott Summers will drop in, even if it's just for a scene or two.
Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), Rob Delaney (Peter), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead) And Shioli Kutsuna (Yukio) will all return as their respective characters, and they'll be joined by franchise newcomers Emma Corrin (The Crown) and Matthew Macfadyen (Succession), who will play a TV agent and Cassandra Nova (not confirmed).
The only other confirmed Fox cameos are Aaron Stanford's Pyro (who appeared in the trailer), Tyler Mane's Sabertooth (who we saw in set photos), and Jennifer Garner as Elektra.
A recent synopsis for the movie reads: "After facing some professional setbacks while going through a midlife crisis, Wade Wilson decides to officially retire Deadpool and becomes a used car salesman. But when his friends, family, and the whole world are at stake, Deadpool decides to bring his katanas out of retirement," the synopsis continues. "He recruits an unwilling and wary Wolverine to not only fight for their survival, but ultimately, their legacy."
Shawn Levy directs Deadpool and Wolverine from a script by Ryan Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Zeb Wells.
The movie is set to open in U.S. & Canadian theaters on July 26, and will be available in IMAX, RealD 3D, Dolby Cinema, 4DX, Cinemark XD and premium screens everywhere.
